KATHLEEN VIOLET KATCHENOSKI (HARRISS) Kathleen Violet Katchenoski passed away peacefully on May 16, 2015 at the age of 94. Kath will be lovingly remembered by her daughters Gillian (Jim) Ross and Dayle (Terry) Mlynarovich. She was a proud grandmother / nana to Alison (Chris) Albert, Lesley (Patrick) Roelofsen, Shaun (Llewella) Mlynarovich, Heather (Jeff) Penner and loving GGMa / great-nana to Jimmy, Michael, Thea, Brynn and Skylar. She is also survived by sisters Joan Rogers and Thelma Gamon and brother John Harriss all in England. She was predeceased by her husband of 72 years, Joe, in 2013 and her sister Jean King. Kath was born in Crowborough, Kent on September 29, 1920. Her early days growing up in England provided many stories filled with laughter and happy memories. In 1940 she met Joe, a Canadian soldier, and they married in 1941. Kathleen came to Canada as a war bride on the Queen Mary in 1946. She and Joe settled in Transcona, where she met her dear friend Muriel Embury also a war bride. The two added to the levity of times remembered in the old country. Kath enjoyed her dogs, knitting, reading, going to the lake, working at the Hudsons Bay but most of all spending time with her grandchildren. She regularly returned to England to visit her extended family and took pleasure entertaining them when they came to Canada. The family wishes to thank Kildonan Care Centre for the great care and kindness shown to Mom during her time there and to the Dialysis units at Health Sciences Centre and Seven Oaks. Thank you also to Wheeler Funeral Home for handling arrangements with dignity. Cremation has taken place and Mom will be going home to England. For those wishing to donate in Mom's memory please consider the Winnipeg Humane Society or the Manitoba Kidney Foundation.
