CHRISTINA LUMSDEN Christina Lumsden (nee Gordon) passed away peacefully at Donwood Manor Personal Care Home on December 20, 2014. Born in Winnipeg in 1914, she celebrated her 100th birthday in August. Apprenticed to her father at 15 years of age, she worked as a tailor until her marriage to Jack in 1934 when she became a fulltime homemaker. Christina was a talented sewer and knitter and in her nineties discovered another talent - painting. She joined the P.E.O. Sisterhood in 1968 and held several offices including President of her local Chapter B. Christina was loved for her thoughtful compassion for others, friendliness and great sense of humour. She was devoted to her family and always enjoyed hearing about her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and all their activities. Christina is survived by her son Jack (Donna), daughter Heather (Wayne), grandchildren Kathryn (Paul), James (Micheline), Michelle (Rob) and great-grandchildren Zachary, Gillian, Riley, Callum, and Landon and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. She was predeceased by Jack, her husband of 67 years, her parents and her sister and two brothers. A special thank you to Arlene Jones (niece) for all of her caring and help with Mom over the years. The close bond between you was something Mom cherished. The family would like to express their gratitude to all the staff at Donwood Manor on both the EPH side and the PCH side. Your caring, concern and warm friendship was very much appreciated and made her last few years happy and contented. Flowers are gratefully declined. If friends so desire, they may make a donation to Donwood Manor Foundation or a charity of their choice. Cremation has taken place and a Celebration of Christina's life will be held at Donwood Manor in the auditorium, 171 Donwood Drive, North Kildonan on Friday, May 29, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. FRIENDS FUENRAL SERVICE 204-339-5555
