GABRIEL A. DELAQUIS Peacefully, surrounded by his family, Gabriel passed away on May 23, 2015 in Winnipeg at Centre Taché at the age of 90 years. Gabriel was predeceased by his wife Henriette (née Le Gras) on January 8, 2012. He leaves to mourn his children: Arthur (Shirley), Edgard, Gilles (Brigitta), Marilyne (James), Rémy (Kelly) and Michel, and grandchildren: Jeremy, Mélanie, Natasha, Janelle, Marlayna, Kevin, Kelly-Ann, Patricia, Gerrit, Krista, Ken, Donavan, Odette, Elise, Gilliane and their families, as well as one sister Lili (Dr. Armand Boisjoli) and two sisters-in-law Antoinette Delaquis (late Ernest) and Marilyn Delaquis (late Charles), as well as numerous other members from the Delaquis and Le Gras families. Dad worked at the family business, Delaquis Motors for many years. He enjoyed providing shuttle service with the Bombardier and later with his 63 Ford for all kinds of functions, including medical transportation and transporting skiers to Snow Valley. He also taught school for one year and then became self-employed as a bulk fuel agent for Esso, White Rose and Shell for 30 years. As fuel agent, Dad was known to always have a supply of lifesavers, suckers and bubble gums for the kids on his delivery routes. The family enjoyed music, swimming lessons, and many summer family vacations. Dad always worked hard at making Mom's many plans come to fruition. Suite à la retraite en 1981, Henriette et Gabriel s'installent à Saint-Boniface, qui leur a permis de s'impliquer davantage dans la vie et les activités de leur famille. They enjoyed travelling, Folklorama, Fall suppers, as well as entertaining family at lakeside cottages during the summer months. La famille se souvient de Papa (Pépé) comme une personne très affectueuse, généreuse, sociable et toujours de bonne humeur. Nous t'aimons Papa et tu nous manques énormément. In compliance with Gabriel's wishes, a private interment will take place with the immediate family only. The family wishes to express their gratitude to Dr. Erhard and staff of Centre Taché (2ABC) for the excellent care and compassion given to Dad during his stay. In lieu of flowers, donations in Gabriel's memory may be made to the Alzheimer's Society or to the charity of your choice.
