MARY LYNN TURNER-BLADY August 29, 1943 March 30, 2015 Succumbing to a decade long battle with a neurological degenerative disorder (right parietal lobe atrophy), Mary Lynn is now with those she loved, missed and prayed for. Her untimely passing is only an event in her eternal life. She is survived by her loving husband of 29 years (and high school sweetheart) Stan; sons, Joel David Northan (Japan) and Mark Andrew Northan (Tracie); granddaughters, Emma and Meredith (Charlotte, NC), step-children, Sharon and Phillip Blady, step-grandchildren, Zachary and Heiko Blady-Bludau; special friend Andreas Bludau, siblings, Ian (Ella) Turner, Christine (George) Leibold also survive. Lovingly remembered by Aunt Rene Swingler (Thunder Bay) and cousin Pamela (John) Walas. Many other cousins, nieces and nephews also survive. Predeceased by her parents, F. Robert (Bob) Turner and Joan (Grammie) Swingler. Her nibs, Bailey Wickes and Sundance will miss her. She will be missed and prayed for by her fellow members of the Catholic Women's League, Our Lady of Perpetual Help Council. Mary Lynn was a dedicated teacher, having taught in the public and separate school systems in Thunder Bay. Moving to Winnipeg, she was the Resource Teacher at Cecil Rhodes School for 19 years. She and Zachary loved to vet new programs. Going to "camp" at McKenzie (in Thunder Bay) with Zachary and Heiko was great fun, as were the memories of she and Stan there in their teen years. Mary Lynn whole heartily participated in the leading edge research of her rare disorder conducted by her neurologist and the research team at the University of Manitoba. That research differentiated her disorder from Alzheimer's and Dementia, though the salient symptoms were similar. It enabled faster diagnoses of the disorder that eventually took her. Donations to the Alzheimer Society in Mary Lynn's memory would be appreciated. Funeral Mass and interment at a later date. Those who we love and lose are no longer where they were before. They are now wherever we are. St. John Chrysostom. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 204-586-8044

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • I was very saddened to read of Mary Lynn's passing. She was one of my teachers in a team taught Grade 7 class at Vance Chapman School in Thunder Bay during the late 60's. Mary Lynn had a quiet, kind presence that helped me to blossom at school and in life. I will always remember her words of encouragement. May she rest in Peace. My sincere condolences to Mary Lynn's family. - Posted by: Valerie Lellava (Student) on: Jun 01, 2015

  • I remember Mary Lynn as a volunteer teacher in a enrichment program I participated in in Thunder Bay. She gave her time to a small group of kids at the school and developed a wide range of challenging programs for us to follow. I will always be thankful for the intellectual curiosity that Mary Lynn instilled in us. I still remember many of the fun projects that she came up with to challenge our thinking and push our boundaries. I became good friends with her son Mark as well and I recall many occasions where I would be visiting their house and Mary Lynn would go out of her way to make sure that Mark and I were well fed and supported in whatever game or activity we were playing. She also opened her home to me as a visitor when they moved to Winnipeg. She was very clearly a strong supporter of family values and her love and respect for different generations is something I will always remember. My sincere condolences to Mary Lynn's family. - Posted by: Jason Christie (Student) on: Jun 01, 2015
