What a lovely tribute here to Mrs. Joan Mary Summers from Ms. Eileen Holowka. Thank you for sharing these pure precious fond memories; they truly reflect what a special lady Joan was. Joan was very caring, a good listener with sincerity. She had given great respect and patience towards others. Yes, she was a private person and that was her good quality of being a good listener. As always her heart listened to others until the end. Joan, you are missed by many whom came to know and admire you. My deepest condolences to the family. - Posted by: Ching (Friend) on: Jun 24, 2015

I am so sad to hear of Mrs. Summers' passing. I met her when I was 8 or 10 years old at Victoria Beach. For the next couple of summers I spent a couple hours almost every day with Mrs. Summers, either telling her fantasy stories or just talking about my life. It is hard to remember exactly what those summer afternoons were like, but I am quite sure that she listened a lot more than she talked (thank you!) Her friendship meant the world to me as a kid. We would even correspond by mail over the school year. She would wish me luck with overcoming bullying and tell me about her bird friends. I still have all of her letters to this day. Unfortunately, we lost touch for a number of reasons, but I always hoped to see her again, pulling her red wagon through the sand. Mrs. Summers (she refused to tell me her first name for years) was a truly lovely woman and I am lucky to have had her in my life. My deepest condolences and best wishes to her family. - Posted by: Eileen Mary Holowka (Beach friend) on: Jun 07, 2015

Dear Neil and Penny I am so very sorry for your loss; I know how very close you both were with mom. I hope that wonderful memories of happy times with her will be of some comfort to you now and that those memories will bring joy as time softens your loss. You were blessed to have her in your lives just as she was truly blessed to have both of you! Much love your friend Laura - Posted by: Laura English (Friend) on: Jun 06, 2015
