FITZGERALD February 28, 1943 - June 7, 2015 It is with great sadness, our family announces the passing of our husband, Dad and Grampie, after a battle with cancer, at the age of 72, on June 7, 2015, at the Foothills Country Hospice in Okotoks, Alberta, with family by his side. Born in St. Catharines, Ontario on February 28, 1943, Robert lived in Moosehorn, Manitoba from 1977 to 1982, working for CN Railways and soon after took a teaching position at Ashern Central High School as the Power Mechanics Teacher. Robert and his family moved to Ashern, Manitoba in 1982, where he was a successful business owner of the Ashern Golf and Country Club, while still teaching school and later owned and operated the Moccasinfoot's Arcade on Hwy. #6, as well as a vending arcade game business, Interlake Games until 1994. He and his family moved to Okotoks, Alberta in 1994 until present and was a successful business owner of Alberta Interlake Games. He is predeceased by his parents, Francis Harold Fitzgerald and Jennie Leona Fitzgerald (nee Chapman); his grandparents, Sylvannis and Enid Chapman (nee Beauchamp) and, Frank and Gertrude Fitzgerald (nee Doucet); and many aunts and uncles. He is survived by his wife Gloria Fitzgerald (nee Meisner); his daughter Cherie-Lee Fitzgerald (Steve Mysek); his brothers, David Fitzgerald (Linda Fitzgerald) and James Fitzgerald (Carole Fitzgerald); grandchildren, Cameron and Jessica Helm; stepgrandchildren, Shelby and Ryan Mysek; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. A Celebration of Life will be held at Snodgrass Funeral Home in Okotoks, AB (200 Woodgate Road) Saturday, June 13 at 11:00 a.m. and is open to all family, friends, neighbours and business acquaintances. A private family service will be held in Carmangay Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. A Celebration Evening will be held at the acreage at 6:00 p.m. and is open to all who would like to come and celebrate his life with the family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Foothills Country Hospice Society, where Robert spent his final time with us in comfort and peace.
