Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryPHYLLIS ELIZABETH MARJORIE CLOSE (nee JAMIESON) October 27, 1916 - June 9, 2015 It is with our deepest sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our mom, Phyllis Close, on Monday a.m., June 9, 2015 in Abbotsford, BC. Left to lovingly remember Mom is her only surviving sister Barbara Blacklaw in St. Albert, four children, Wayne, Sharon (Harry), Carole (Jerry), Greg (Rosemary), her grandchildren Lisa (Dave), Shari (Dave), Corrie (Jim), Leanne (Jamie), Melisa, Michael (Sara), Jordy, Adam and Emilie, eight great-grandchildren, and her many nieces and nephews. Phyllis was born in Hamiota, Manitoba, she moved to Winnipeg and married Emil Close in 1944. Mom enjoyed her summers at Grand Beach with her family, extended family and friends. During the 1960s Mom held many positions in the Grand Beach Community Club including president of the ladies GBCA for many years. Mom originated and was instrumental in organizing the Masquerade dance which turned out to be an annual event for over 20 years. Mom had a great sense of humour, she loved telling jokes, playing cards, games especially charades. Mom was also a fantastic cook with her apple pies winning awards at the local fair. In 1989 Mom and Dad retired and moved to an ocean view condo in White Rock, BC, Dad passed away in 1992. Mom then moved to Abbotsford to be closer to her son Wayne and enjoyed her many years in her garden, playing Bridge, enjoying the warmer weather and trying to teach her cockatiel (Polly) to talk. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses, at Abbotsford Regional Hospital, we truly appreciate the care and attention provided to our mom over the short period of time she was there. In keeping with Phyllis' wishes cremation has taken place, there will be a remembrance gathering for Mom next summer. Mom you are not gone, your soul still lives on in a higher plane, and in your loved one's hearts. You've taught us the most important lesson, what life and love is.
