Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryDENNIS ROBERT LENCHYSHYN January 9, 1944 - June 8, 2015 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of our husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend on June 8, 2015 at Bethesda Regional Health Centre in Steinbach, MB, after a courageous battle with cancer. Dennis is survived by his loving wife Sally (Sylvia Chopyk), of nearly 51 years: children Tracey (John) Martin, Tony (Lorie), Jamie and Jerry Lenchyshyn, grandchildren: Natasha Martin, Thomas and Jack Lenchyshyn. He is also survived by two sisters: Joanne (Julien) Gerard and Diane Wallace, sister-in-law Sonya Lenchyshyn, brothers-in-law Tony Makodanski and Wilmar (Rita) Chopyk; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Dennis was predeceased by his son Gregory Lenchyshyn in 1991, his father Frederick Lenchyshyn, his mother Nellie Spilchuk, stepfather Tony Spilchuk, his sister Alice Makodanski, brothers: Paul (at birth) and Lawrence Lenchyshyn, his in-laws Bill and Evelyn Chopyk, and sister-in-law Lucy Chopyk. Dennis was born on January 9, 1944 in Winnipeg and raised on the family farm in Glenlea, MB. He was a kind, soft-hearted person, whose passion was farming. He moved to the Niverville area, it was there he and Sally raised their five kids. They moved to Mitchell in 1999 and for the last four and a half years, they lived in Steinbach. In 2007, he retired from Reimer Express Lines after 37 years of service. For a short time he worked at Eastman Recycling and was deeply appreciative of the kindness and dedication of his co-workers. The family would like to thank CancerCare Manitoba, the doctors, nursing staff and Larry Hirst at Bethesda Regional Health Centre for their incredible dedication, compassion and personal service they so often demonstrated. Cremation has taken place and a private ash interment service was held at the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish Cemetery in St. Norbert, MB. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Dennis' memory to a charity of your choice. VICHNAYA PAM'YAT BIRCHWOOD FUNERAL CHAPEL 204-346-1030

Dennis and I were cousins. Our fathers (brothers) came from the large Lenchshyn family. Dennis remained in Manitoba as did his father Fred. My father Michael moved to Ontario and there we remained. On several occasions we would go to visit the Lenchyshyn families in Manitoba. These visits will always hold fond memories for me. Cousin Dennis had the greatest smile and 'the Lenchyshyn' laugh. Dennis ,Sally and the kids always made us feel at home. I will miss that part of our lives. Till we meet again, cousin Judy - Posted by: Judy Stacee-Cleaver (cousin) on: Jun 22, 2015

I will always remember Dennis and his family visiting his mother-in-law and his patience and joy for life. I would also see him every weekday when he would return from working at Reimer's and Jean remembers working with him there also. Our sympathies to Sally, Tony, Tracey, Jamie and Jerry. - Posted by: Nicole (Mailhot) Sorin (Friend) on: Jun 16, 2015

The Lenchyshyn's was where I learned about cows, calves, milking and farm life. Dennis was a wonderful man who took the time to explain the whys and how comes to a wide-eyed girl. Over the years many laughs, joys and difficulties were shared. There are too many memories and great times to list. My heart goes out to the family. There are no right words to express the sadness I feel at his passing. - Posted by: Wendy Proteau (Friend of Family) on: Jun 13, 2015

I have known the Lenchyshyn family since about 1950. Our families both attended the OLD Blessed Virgin Mary Ukrainian Catholic Church south of St.Norbert. Fred and Nellie made certain that their children, especially the girls, would be the best dressed...and they always were! Although we lived far apart and did not see one another often (I'm in Mississauga, Ontario), I was quite fond of Dennis and his older brother Lawrence. My last chat with Dennis was about a year ago during the graveside services. I regret that I will not be coming to Winnipeg this year. To his family, please accept my heartfelt condolences. Uncle Dennis was a kind generous man. He loved his family so much and worked so hard together with Auntie Sally. He was always so interested to hear about my life here in Australia. He had a booming laugh and will be terribly missed. Vichnaya pamyat. - Posted by: Lisa Cleary (née:Makodanski) (Niece) on: Jun 13, 2015
