Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Allan was a good man with a big heart. He was always fun to talk to because he was interested in many things, especially the big questions. He had a healthy sense of humour to make everything more interesting. Allan was very down to earth, always humble. I often think of Allan and his wonderful wife Marcha. - Posted by: Garry Burgess (Friend) on: Jun 08, 2019

  • Mr. Murphy was a very good friend. He and Mrs. Murphy took me in and befriended me when I was new to the city. He could make a wonderful batch of spanakopita - could make his own phyllo pastry, was an amazing chef, musician, gardener, and friend. No matter how long it was between times we saw each other, it was always like no time had passed at all. I will miss him a great deal. - Posted by: Sarah (Friend) on: Apr 13, 2016

  • Allan was a special late in life friend. My wife, Elaine, and I first met him and his wife, Marcha, at the Commodore Squash Club in St Paul, Minnesota. He and I played squash with and against each other for a number of years. He loved the game, played it well and was always the perfect sportsman. He and Marcha came to the Twin Cities several times a year to play chamber music with a variety of groups. Between visits we carried on a continuing email conversation about all sorts of topics. He read widely and asked penetrating questions. Allan was a wonderful, positive friend whom we will miss a great deal. Our thoughts go out to Marcha and to all of his friends and family members. He was a good one. - Posted by: Charlie Silverson and Elaine Elnes (Friends) on: Aug 06, 2015

  • Allan and I were friends during our time as nursery owners. He was a good man, a gifted musician. My thoughts are with his family, and his wife Marcha. - Posted by: Cheryl Whitehead (friend) on: Jun 28, 2015
