Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryNORMA LEAH BURKETT (nee Gregory) Passed away peacefully on June 8, 2015. Born in 1925, she was raised on Alverstone Street in Winnipeg. She married and moved to Flin Flon, Manitoba where she raised her four children: Greg Burkett (Linda) of Kelowna, BC, Leah McNish (Douglas) of Winnipeg, MB, Glen Burkett (Kirsten) of Flin Flon, MB and Laura Wilson (Donald) of Whitehorse, YT. Norma is fondly remembered by her children, 10 grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, step grandchildren, sister Phyllis Bell of Winnipeg, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mom was a dedicated volunteer working with the Canadian Mental Health Association, teaching spoken poetry and canvassing for various organizations. She was involved with Toastmasters for years and was an advocate of lifelong learning. Mom was proud of her involvement with the Order of the Eastern Star and was Matron of the Flin Flon Chapter, receiving her 50 year pin. Mom was an active bridge player, golfer, curler and traveller. She enjoyed her years working for Manitoba Environment in Winnipeg. Norma was a loving mother and grandmother and a very loyal friend. She will be profoundly missed by her children. We love you mom.
