MURIEL McLINTOCK (Bristow) 1918 - 2015 Our Mom, Gran, Great Gran passed away on Thursday, May 28, while in Palliative Care at Deertrail Cottage in Duncan, BC. She was predeceased by her first husband Charles Bristow and by her second husband Vice Admiral Gordon McLintock and by her daughter Allison and sister Doris Thoms. She was a loving and incredible mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be missed so much by her daughter, Alyce Elinor (Richard), her son John (Bev), grandsons Rob (Kaori) and Ryan (Jaimie) and great-granddaughters, Sofia and Kacie, and extended family Tamara (Richard) Robertson and Mark (Jayne) and Justin Shead. She loved to dress up and always wore a hat, many that she made herself. She was a terrific hostess and loved to prepare a feast for friends in Winnipeg, Washington, DC and Salt Spring. She loved to dance and could outlast most anyone on the floor. She loved to make snow angels even when she required help to get back up. She was creative an artist who was invited to copy masterpieces at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., a seamstress who even made her own wedding own, a cook who created gourmet meals. She was especially known for her delicious cinnamon buns. She was fiercely independent and drove her car into her 90s. She travelled extensively and continued travelling the world by herself after she was widowed. She had a wonderful sense of humor and loved hearing funny stories and retelling them to others. We would like to thank the staff at Deertrail Cottage in Duncan for the kind and professional care they gave Mom to the end. Even when she could no longer get out of bed, her place at the table was always set. We would also like to thank the wonderful staff at Dovehill House in Chemainus who helped her transition from her condo on Salt Spring Island to assisted living. They not only made Mom feel at home, but also her friends and family on the numerous visits. The family will celebrate her life at the columbarium at Chapel Lawn, Winnipeg, at a future date.
