DOROTHY HUMPHREY July 20, 1920 - April 18, 2015 Dorothy died peacefully, with her family by her side. She was born in Montrose, Scotland and grew up in London, England. During the Second World War, Dorothy was evacuated to Canada as a War Bride. During her life she travelled across Canada living in Moncton, Saint John, Hamilton, Calgary and Winnipeg. In London, Dorothy apprenticed in a royal dressmakers shop and as a result, excelled in all the needle arts. She distinguished herself athletically in both curling and lawn bowling. In her retirement she resumed her passion for painting. Dorothy was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Boyd A. Humphrey, her brother Richard, and her parents Ann and Richard Ottewell. She is survived by her three sons: John and Michael of Calgary and Richard of Winnipeg (Angela); three grandchildren Alexandra Humphrey of Toronto (Michael Sims and daughter Katherine); Rebecca Blight of Kent, England (Barry and children Nicholas and Sophie), and Meredith Humphrey of Winnipeg (Kevin Evans). For the past three and a half years, Dorothy resided at the Poseidon Care Centre where she took part in many activities and thoroughly enjoyed herself. The staff took good care of Dorothy and her family is very grateful. Dorothy's family would like to thank Dr. James Johnson and Dr. Marni Wiseman of CancerCare Manitoba for the dedicated care given to Dorothy. Cremation and burial has taken place. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba Foundation Inc., 1160 - 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9 or to a charity of one's choice.
