EDNA GLADYS WARWICK
Date of Passing: Jun 17, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryEDNA GLADYS WARWICK Peacefully Edna Warwick passed away, at the age of 94, on June 17, 2015. Edna was predeceased by her parents Fredrick and Margaret, and all of her siblings. Born and raised on Elgin Avenue in Weston where neighbours became family and life-long friends. Many stories were shared about summers in her youth travelling to Winnipeg Beach for dances, and trips to Caddy Lake. Edna was a loving and devoted daughter who stayed home to help care for her ailing father and later her mom. She was a loving auntie to her nieces and nephews always enjoying shopping with the girls, teaching the value in a dry martini, a good game of golf and chats on the phone from afar. Edna went to Success Business College after high school which led to a career with the R.C.M.P. at the Headquarters in Winnipeg of which she was very proud. She made wonderful friends at work who she spent time with well into her elderly years either traveling or luncheons with the "RCMP GIRLS". Edna and her sister Mavis became companions and very close after Mavis' husband Bob died years ago. They enjoyed their weekly shopping trips to Polo Park or Safeway with life-long friend Alma Whiteside. Edna was the driver and took great pride and care of her cars. Edna moved out of her family home at the age of 84 into Sturgeon Retirement Residence where she made many friends. She was able to live independently with the help and care of her great-niece Jaclyn before moving to Oakview Personal Care Home. It was with comfort in knowing she spent her last two years at Oakview Place, which she had come to know due to daily visits to her own mother who lived there before she passed away. Edna is left to be mourned by many nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank the special staff of the second floor at Oakview. In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Heart and Stroke Foundation. There will be a private family graveside service at a later date.

My condolences to the family, Miss Warwick was a great neighbor and she passed on many words of wisdom through my teen years and my early married life. Even after I moved away she was on my visiting list when I came back to Winnipeg for a visit. She was a wonderful lady. - Posted by: Pat Steele (neighbor) on: Jun 20, 2015
