  • I worked with Al at The North West Company. He was always so patient, and would take the time to explain things even when I knew he was extremely busy himself. He would greet the mail room staff the same way he would the CEO-always fair, happy and positive to be around. My condolences to the family. - Posted by: Jackie Conner (friend former coworker) on: Jun 24, 2015

  • Hi Al, Truly sorry I could'nt make it for the Memorial. Thank you for the opportunity for myself to grow as a person and hiring me at Precambrian Wholesale and taking that chance on me. As well thanks for mentoring me through our time there. I will never forget all that you have done for me. A true inspiration to keep doing what you love. But now you can relax my friend! Forever Grateful! - Posted by: Jeremy (Friend) on: Jun 22, 2015

  • I would like to offer my condolences… I had the pleasure to work with Al at The Northwest Company for a number of years when he was a Buyer of furniture and electronics. It was a privilege to be associated with him – having his office next to mine made it easy to discuss any and all topics with him and to ask for his opinion, guidance and support. We traveled together, shared sometimes opposing views on business, sports and life in general – but never with hard feelings or open disagreement – just good natured debate. He was a true gentleman who was the consummate team player – often his office was the gathering place for his coworkers to discuss good and bad developments in the company, the sports world or just news – they valued his view and his calm and practical approach, it was contagious for all. Al was a determining factor in one of the most important career decisions I had to make and although for him the advice he passed along was likely not in his best interest he offered it freely with my personal well being in mind, not his – for that I am forever grateful… Although we had lost touch over the past few years he continually crosses my mind and will be forever remembered at the great person he was. - Posted by: Ray Falkenberg (Co-worker) on: Jun 22, 2015

  • Sincere condolences to Al's sons Patrick & Roger, family members, and friends. Al was such a great support to me at work in our day-day tasks at The North West Co., in the Marketing Dept, very kind, always had time to spend w/me while I was first learning the ropes of the retail industry, very friendly to all whether it be at Company functions, attending trade shows near and far, as well as visiting the stores up North. Since I have been away from Wpg. for the last 15 yrs, to return and visit Paul Rodgers, a very close friend to Al. He informed me first of the Al's illness in Feb/2015. I'm so happy to have been able to make contact with Al, and share some stories and lives gone buy. So saddened to learn of his recent passing; I will remember him always as he is now in a better place free from pain. Thinking of you all on this day, my thoughts are with you.
