ALEXANDER JAMES ZERKEE 1929 - 2015 Our Dad passed away peacefully with Mom by his side on Friday, June 19, 2015. Survived by his loving wife of 59 years Violet, sons Dwight and Grant (Kimberly), and granddaughters Lauren and Danielle, also survived by sister Hazel Caroline and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents Henry and Catherine, siblings John, William, Charles, David, Stanley, Helen (Nelly), Mary, Katharine (Kay), Gertrude (Gertie), Mabel, Gladys and Edith, numerous brothers and sisters-in-law. Dad was born February 21, 1929 in St. Eustache, Manitoba. He grew up on the family farm in Poplar Point. He worked at various jobs, starting at age 16 in a lumber camp, then moving from grain elevator demolition to steeplejacking. This all led to him becoming a lineman with Manitoba Hydro, which he did for 35 years retiring at the age of 55. Dad loved being outside, building things with his hands and to sing old country songs. The family would like to thank the staff at Kin Place Personal Care Home for all their care and kindness. Funeral service will be held at Desjardins Funeral Chapel, 357 DesMeurons Street on Thursday, June 25, 2015 at 2:00 p.m.
