ALLAN WILLIAM ZELENITSKY June 18, 1926 - June 21, 2015 Peacefully on Sunday, June 21, 2015, with his family by his side, Allan passed away at the Selkirk General Hospital, at the age of 89. Left to mourn is his loving wife of 65 years, Elsie; sons Richard, Eugene (Bernice), Adrian (Debbie), Greg (Cathy) and Mark (Colleen). Grandpa will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Peter (Michelle), Waylan (Trudy), Jesse (Emily), Vanessa (Steven), Tyson (Breanne), Whitney (Kirk), Chantel (Joel), and Natasha (Jordan); great-grandchildren, Brady, Abigail, Kellen, Hannah, Madaline, Sawyer, Audrey and Hudson. Also left to mourn are Allan's siblings, Frances Bochurka, Alice (Jack) Nichol, Leonard (Linda) Zelenitsky and Myles (Cheryl) Zelenitsky, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Allan was predeceased by his parents William and Rose Zelenitsky; his sister Agnes, and brother-in-law Edward Bochurka. Dad began work at the family ice and wood business in Winnipeg Beach with his father. He continued his career being an agent for British American Petroleum, then moved onto Gulf Petroleum, finishing with Esso Petroleum until he retired in 1990. During this time he met Elsie Tomko in 1945 and after four years of courting, Allan and Elsie married on October 15, 1949. Allan and Elsie then built their home in Winnipeg Beach where they started their family of five sons. As part of the community Dad served on Winnipeg Beach Council for several years as a councillor and then moved onto Mayor for the next few years. Dad was enlisted in the Second World War in 1945 for a brief time and was a Honorary Legion Member with over 50 years of service. Allan will be greatly missed by all the people who had the honour of knowing him. Thank you to the Gimli Community Health Centre and a special thank you to Selkirk General Hospital for making Dad's final days peaceful. Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Lake Church in Winnipeg Beach on Friday, June 26, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. with viewing one hour prior, luncheon to follow the interment. Pallbearers will be his five sons and nephew, Kevin Bochurka. Honorary pallbearers are all his grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to The Heart and Stroke Foundation, 6 Donald St., Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3L 0K6.
