WALTER FREDERICK DENNIS (DENNY) GALAUGHER Dennis was born in Carman, Manitoba on August 18, 1944 to Walter and Lorna Galaugher. He passed away on June 20, 2015 in Edmonton, Alberta. Dennis is survived by his sister, Maureen Ritchot; brother, Terrance Galaugher; sister-in-law, Jenny Galaugher and three generations of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Denny was predeceased in death by his mom who was his best friend and travelling companion. She would visit Denny wherever he was stationed and together they explored the world. Dennis joined the Canadian Navy at the age of 17 and retired August 18, 2009. Dennis loved the life and the honour of serving his country. Dennis was always proud to be called a fireman. It was a brother/sisterhood he was honoured to belong to. Dennis gave of his time to many organizations, but by far his favourite to work with was the Sea Cadets. He said he loved the opportunity of exposing young minds to different adventures across the world. Dennis served as president of the Norwood Legion. After retiring from the military, Dennis went to work for Home Depot, a job he really enjoyed. Denny's family would like to express their thanks for the help from the Naval Officers Association represented by Ed Brownfield, the Norwood Legion and the team at Home Depot for their generous help and support. Most of all, the family is very appreciative for everything that longtime friends Mack and Connie Cox, Don and Mary MacNeil, and Fred and Wally Johnson have done. A Celebration of his Life and Memorial Service will be held Friday, June 26 at 1:30 p.m. at Park Memorial Chapel, 9709 - 111 Avenue. Reverend Maude Parsons-Horst (Maj Ret'd) officiating with inurnment in the family niche in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one's choice.
