RODRIGO P. MINA April 28, 1952 - June 22, 2015 It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle and friend, Rodrigo P. Mina, who passed away peacefully on Monday, June 22, 2015 at the age of 63 surrounded by loved ones. Rod was born and raised in Palauig, Zambales, Philippines. He was an ambitious young man who began his career with International Harvester before immigrating to Canada in 1976. He lived and worked in London, Ontario before moving to Winnipeg, Manitoba where he settled and made his home. He was a well-respected Heavy Duty Journeyman Mechanic most recently working for Bison Transport. Rod loved gardening, fishing and the outdoors. He was an avid sports fan following basketball and boxing. Rod loved to travel to Hawaii and the Philippines and enjoyed taking his family on road trips across Canada and the US. Most of all, Rod loved his family and would do anything for them. He was a pillar of strength and a reliable and dependable figure in his family's lives. He will be deeply missed by those whose lives he was a part of. Rod is survived and will be cherished forever by his wife Catalina, daughters Kathryn, Jehan and Rachel, brothers and sisters in Winnipeg, Philippines, Germany and Spain as well as many nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue on Saturday, June 27, 2015. Public viewing will be held at 9:30 a.m. with service officiated by Dr. Jun Nolasco to follow at 10:00 a.m. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the doctors, nurses and staff at the Health Sciences Centre and CancerCare Manitoba for their exceptional care, support and compassion. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to CancerCare Manitoba. For those who wish to sign the online Guest Book please visit our website.
