MABEL LEA (nee SCOTT) August 22, 1933 - June 24, 2015 It is with heavy hearts that the family of Mabel Lea announces her passing on Wednesday, June 24, 2015. Mabel was predeceased by her parents, David and Edith; husband Richard; daughter Paulette; great-granddaughter Aubrey; sisters, Anna (Kris), Isabel (Albert) and Edith (Lindsay); brother James; and brothers-in-law, Frank and Mel. Left to cherish her memory is children, Ron, Lorne (Anna), Gary, Franklin (Tina), Dennis (Isabel), Janice (Danny), Calvin; and daughter-in-law Cheryl; 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; sisters, Pauline, Beatrice, Jean (Stanley) and Laura; brothers-in-law, Roland and Clifford (Violet). She also leaves to mourn numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Mom was born and raised in Pine Dock, Manitoba. She married dad on July 27, 1952 and had eight children. Mom and dad shared a strong love and admiration for one another. She was known to all as a very loving, caring and quick witted person who loved cooking and baking, to feed anyone that came to visit. Mom and dad took guardianship of their niece Patsy, after the loss of her sister Isabel (Albert); and in September 1999, they also took guardianship of granddaughter Shantel, after the passing of their daughter Paulette. Seeing her grandchildren and many nieces and nephews always brought a smile to mom's face. Mom's heart was filled with so much love and although it was weakened in the end, her strength was resilient. Viewing for the family will take place on Saturday, June 27, 2015 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Gilbart's Funeral Home in Selkirk, MB, with a service to follow on Saturday, July 4, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. at the Pine Dock Community Hall in Pine Dock, MB. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to the staff of Arborg & District Hospital for their support in her final days. Gilbart Funeral Home, Selkirk in care of arrangements. www.gilbartfuneralhome.com
