ELIZABETH IDA OLIVER (HALLETT)
Born: Jan 10, 1924
Date of Passing: Jun 30, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryELIZABETH IDA OLIVER (HALLETT) January 10, 1924 - June 30, 2015 Peacefully after a short illness, and children at her side, Ida passed away at the age of 91 (same month and date as her mother). She was born to Jack and Ellen Hallett (youngest) and grew up and lived in the Lake Francis, MB area her whole life. Mom was predeceased by her husband Robert Oliver; parents Jack and Ellen Hallett; infant sister Thelma; sisters Helen Taylor, Bertha Hogg, Lyle Procter, Evelyn Stone and brothers John Hallett and Jim Hallett. Mom was the last remaining of that branch of the Hallett family. She will be forever lovingly remembered by three sons; Garnet, Randy and Clayton (Penny); her only daughter Debbie (Grant); four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters-in-laws Alice Kartenin, Phyllis Oliver, Evy Erickson and husband Wally and many nieces and nephews. Mom was devoted to the lives of her children. She was a warm, kind and generous soul, always thinking of others before herself. She had a great sense of humour and loved sewing, making beautiful quilts, gardening, music and poetry. Mom worked for a number of years at Rice Sportswear in St. Laurent where she made many friends. Mom would welcome anyone into her home for conversation and good food and a cup of tea or coffee. She loved nature and animals. She especially loved her Humming-birds, and the Canada Geese returning home every spring. In the years since Dad passed, Mom never liked to be away from home for too long and helping Randy there. They were a team. Mom, Debbie will miss our quiet times together and long talks and walks and laughs over a cup of tea (or something stronger) and a game of cards and talking about the latest happenings on Coronation Street. As per mom's wishes, there will be no service. Thank you to Stonewall Hospital and the doctors, nurses, health care aides, cleaners and everyone else for their kindness in caring for mom. Thank you to friends and relatives who called or visited mom. "A mother is the truest friend we have, when trials heavy and sudden fall upon us; when adversity takes the place of prosperity; when friends desert us; when trouble thickens around us, still will she cling to us, and endeavour by her kind percepts and counsels to dissipate the clouds of darkness, and cause peace to return to our hearts" - Washington Irving
