AGNES MARIE WODZICKI (CHARETTE) Peacefully, after a courageous battle with cancer, it is with deep sorrow we announce the passing of Agnes on June 28, 2015 at the St. Boniface Hospital, at the age of 80. Agnes was predeceased by her husband Joseph; her parents, Guillaume and Agnes Charette; sisters, Soeur Simone, Andree, Sherry; and her brother Guy. Left to hold dear her memory are her two daughters, Charlene (Lorne), Tanya (Markus); her grandsons, David (Aralin), Florian and Juppi; great-granddaughter (Mia); her much loved sister Louise (Andy), many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Agnes was born in St. Boniface, Manitoba, on March 28, 1935. She was educated at St. Adolphe Convent; she earned the distinction of the Governor General's Medal for academics; attained a Bachelor of Arts degree, and in 1955, she graduated from the St. Boniface Hospital School of Medical Technology. Agnes worked in the Reproductive Science Lab, Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Women's Centre, HSC as a Laboratory Supervisor overseeing lab technicians, medical students and Obstetrical Fellows in research and clinical studies. She worked at the Centre for 26 years and retired in 2000. During this time, she also co-authored several scientific papers in medical journals. She was a member of St. Nicholas U.C.W.L.C. for 40 years and a participant in the Rosary group. Agnes was an avid reader and in her retirement. She enjoyed many activities; Bible studies, yoga, swimming, bridge and dance classes. She travelled extensively to numerous destinations in Europe and the U.S.; made numerous trips to Germany to visit her daughter Tanya and grandchildren; she also wintered in Phoenix with her sister. Her friendship was valued by many whose path she crossed in life. She will be remembered for her love, kindness and generosity to those in need; a good listener and wise in her advice to many of her friends and family. Her sense of humour was legendary, as there was nothing that she enjoyed more than laughter. Her faith sustained her through her many challenges. The family wishes to sincerely thank the nurses and doctors in Palliative Care at the St. Boniface Hospital. Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, July 6 at St. Nicholas Ukrainian Catholic Church, 737 Bannerman Ave. with a Basilian Father officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Agnes' memory can be made to Siloam Mission, 300 Princess St., Winnipeg, MB R3B 1M3 or any charity of your choice.
