BARBARA MCLEOD Peacefully, on Sunday, July 5, 2015, surrounded by family and in the arms of her daughter Candace, Barb McLeod, aged 66, passed away and began her journey home to join the Angels. Barb is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Norman Alexander McLeod; and daughters, Candace McLeod, Crystal McLeod, Missy (Mike) McCullough; and her one and only precious grandson, Josh Flett-McCullough; brothers: Leonard (Anne) Flett, Grand Rapids, MB, Joe (Louis) Smith, Selkirk, MB; sisters, Lillian (Alex) Paupanekis, Norway House, MB, Mildred Arthurson, Norway House, MB; mother-in-law Pearl McLeod; brother-in-law Doug (Darlene) McLeod, Screibber, ON; sisters-in-law: Brenda (Bill) Lalonde, Sheila (Audie) Dulewich, Sharon McLeod (Terry Dulewich) McLeod, Shirley (Mike Lysohhirka). Barb also leaves to mourn many nieces, nephews, cousins, family and many special and dear friends, to many to mention. Barb was predeceased by her parents, Muriel and Donald Flett; brother Bruce Flett; father-in-law Allan McLeod. Barb was born and raised in Norway House, MB and that is where she met the love of her life, Norman McLeod. They married on July 25, 1974 and raised their family in Norway House. Barb retired from Frontier School Division in 2014, where she was employed as a School Counselor. She began working at the Jack River School in 1980 as a substitute teacher and decided to then further her career and pursued a degree in Education. She received her Bachelor of Education Degree in 1995 from the University of Brandon and continued to work as a School Counselor/Teacher at the Jack River and Helen Betty Osborne Schools. Barb cared deeply for the children and youth she worked with, along with her colleagues. She always greeted everyone she met with her beautiful smile. Mom always filled our home with love. Home and family were her number one priority and focus. She always made our house a home and ensured her family was always cared for and loved deeply. Mom enjoyed her visits and phone calls with family and friends, she loved playing bingo and would often meet up with her friends and shared much laughter and smiles. A celebration of Mom's life will be held with Wake services on Tuesday, July 7 and Wednesday, July 8, 2015 at the St. Mark's Anglican Church Parish Hall, Norway House, MB. Prayers and final viewing will be held on Thursday, July 9, 2015, beginning at 12:00 p.m., followed by funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow at the St. Mark's Anglican Church Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to Anderson Family Funeral Home / Norway House Cree Nation.

  • Wow. I am saddened and shocked by the news of Barb's passing. She was my hockey team mate and my travel friend as we attended an in-service in Thompson back in '93. She was a very friendly person to everyone. Our world is at a profound loss without her. Especially the students of the schools of Norway House. Condolences to her family.   • I worked with barb since 1991 when I started working with frontier schools she made an impact on my career as she was very honest caring n loved the students she worked with.   • I met Barb years ago when she was going to Brandon University in Brandon. Im shocked by this news. She was a very nice lady, always had a smile for everyone.   • Babs as I called her, was a remarkable, and kind woman. She was a good true friend.She helped me through the most difficult time of loss. I was there for her whenever she called but l didn't know she was sick. She always reassured me she was fine. Anyway we always had a great time whatever or wherever we were. We shared stories and memories of our parents. ( and our hockey careers)ha ha ha. And our mud pie days. All was good. She loved her family. We shared gratitude in God in all we have. Oh Lord!
