BERNICE JANE BERRY July 6, 1924 - July 5, 2015 On Sunday, July 5, 2015, Bernice Berry passed away peacefully in her sleep, on the last day of her 90th year. She was predeceased by her brother Ed Papik; her beloved husband William "Bill" Berry; and her sisters-and-brothers-in-law, Donna Papik, Jane and Bill Keay, and Jim and Joan Berry. Bernice is survived by her loving family: children, Joan (Dan) Sabo, Bill (Marian) Berry, Dougal (Lisa) Berry and Connie (Julia Lipinska) Berry; grandchildren, Angus (Kathy) Sabo, Morgan (Amanda) Sabo, Andrea (Nathan) Klock, Evan (Patricia Rock) Berry; great-grandchildren, Norah and Arie, as well as many nieces and nephews. Bernice, also known as "Bunny" or "Bea", was the daughter of John and Helen Papik of Winnipeg. She attended St. John's Technical High School and University of Manitoba. After graduating university with a BSc in Home Economics, Bernice interned as a dietician at the Toronto General Hospital. Following graduation, Bernice worked at the Winnipeg General Hospital and Milwaukee Hospital until 1950. On September 2, 1950, she married William "Bill" Berry and established a loving home with him in Regina, SK. Bernice and Bill raised four children, who all became professionals with prosperous careers. Bernice had a heart for serving others and volunteered tirelessly for many organizations, including the Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Regina General Hospital Auxiliary. She was with the RGH Auxiliary for more than 20 years. Following Bill's retirement, Bernice and Bill travelled with friends and family to an assortment of exotic destinations around the globe. Bernice was happy and content to her last day. She was a kind and gentle soul who was always friendly to everyone she met and will be missed by everyone who had the opportunity to know her. The family would like to thank the staff and residents of Selo Gardens Personal Care Home for the wonderful, loving attention Bernice received in her four years there. They became part of our extended family and we sincerely appreciate the tender care provided. A celebration of her life will be held at Speers Family Center, 2333 Cornwall Street, Regina, SK on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. Flowers gratefully declined.
