ROBERT (BOB) GREEN CORBETT Peacefully on July 7, 2015, at the age of 94 our beloved, husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, was called home to be with his heavenly father. Dad was born to Thomas and Sadie Corbett in Winnipeg. Dad will be missed by Evelyn, his wife of 67 years, sons Allan (Charlaine), Howard (Gale), Ian (Carole), David, and daughter Ruth (Doug) Johnston. He thoroughly loved his 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Dad is survived by his brother Doug Corbett and sister Helen Scarff. He was predeceased by his parents, brother Jim Corbett and sister Mary Corbett. Dad was always the entrepreneur. He started businesses in the trucking, farm implement, automotive, motor sports, advertising, manufacturing, marine, and distribution industries. Dad, affectionately known as RG, always enjoyed the challenge of business and the interaction with customers and employees. He recognized business as a way to make a difference in peoples' lives by providing a practical service that people needed and his businesses felt like family for many of his employees. He was a graduate of Moody Bible Institute (Chicago) and Emmaus Bible School (Toronto) and was active in many Christian organizations including St. James Gospel Chapel, Faith Bible Camp, Gideons International, Canadian Sunday School Mission and Christian Business Men's Connection (CBMC). Dad had a love for music. He sang solos, in quartets and choirs. He was also a choir director and really enjoyed getting that extra energy out of a group of singers. Dad had a love for scripture and spent a large part of his energy studying it and teaching others the rich treasures that he found hidden there. For years he had a weekly television program where he taught the scriptures. In lieu of flowers, the family would encourage donations to Faith Bible Camp (faithbiblecamp.org) of which he was one of the founders. He had a special love for the difference a camp would make in children's lives. His life was motivated by the Christian message of God's grace and love and Christ's power to change lives. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Charleswood Community Church, 760 Charleswood Road. Arrangements entrusted to RONALD MOFFIT MEMORIAL SERVICES

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • To Allan and Charlaine, Howard and Gale, Ian and Carole, David, and Ruth and your families, Linnea and I extend our deepest sympathies to you guys. Your Dad was an inspiration both in Music, and as a leader in The Church. As grandparents ourselves now, we can only imagine your Dad and Mom's joy in their grandchildren. Please take some encouragement from The Scriptures, "I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day — and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing." 2.
