PATRICIA COWAN (nee HENLEY) It is with great sadness, we announce the passing of Patricia Cowan (nee Henley), at the age of 88. She will be forever remembered by her adoring husband and life partner, Norm Cowan, as well as many godchildren, (Kim, Kerry, Tricia and Rod), close friends and acquaintances. Patricia was born October 23, 1926 in Winnipeg. At a very young age, Pat joined the Canadian Military, dedicating her time and talent to help entertain the troops during the war. Following this, she began her long career working in various capacities in the movie industry in Winnipeg, including the original Capitol Theatre. Pat had a long career with Allied, where she was responsible for booking the majority of movies in a number of theatres across the Prairie Provinces. It was in the 1950s, while working at the Capitol Theatre in downtown Winnipeg, that she met and fell in love with her best friend, Norm. Pat and Norm were married soon after, and were inseparable in their wonderful and devoted relationship from that point on. Never having had children of their own, Pat and Norm were cherished and dedicated godparents, and had a profound impact on each and every one of their godchildren through the years..."Auntie Pat" was known to be generous above all; exuded kindness to everyone she knew; and spread her joy and love of life to all her close friends in Canada and the US. Pat's ashes are buried at Elwood Cemetery in Winnipeg. Although no formal service will be held, a private celebration of Pat's life will take place at a future date. Those wishing to remember her, are welcome to give a donation on her behalf to Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation.

Pat became a very important part of our lives through my husband David. Pat referred to him as her brother. When we lived in Winnipeg Norman and Pat were at all our family occasions. When she needed something done she always called on Dave. Pat and Dave had a very special bond. When I lost Dave in 2012 Pat was one of the first to call me. Pat will be sadly missed by all who loved her. Rest in peace Patricia. Love from the Palmer family. - Posted by: Sharon Palmer (Pat was godmother to my son Scott and my daughter Amanda) on: Jul 11, 2015
