SHU YONG LEE September 18, 1936 - July 14, 2015 It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Shu Yong Lee in the early hours of July 14, 2015, at the age of 78 years, in Winnipeg, Manitoba, after a lengthy illness. He died comfortably with family members at his side. Yong leaves to mourn his devoted wife Sim Mee; children Minnie of Ottawa and Edwin (Leann) of Winnipeg; grandchildren Amy and Colin of Winnipeg, as well as numerous extended family in China. Yong was born on September 18, 1936, in Guangdong, China. He immigrated to Canada in 1957, eventually settling in Winnipeg to operate a small grocery store for 11 years. A later career change brought him to Shanghai Restaurant for 15 years. A debilitating illness caused him to retire early in 1986. He filled his remaining years with hobbies and work when he was able. He is remembered by many as having a very strong personality and passions to match. These passions included: continuing education, helping others, Cantonese opera, playing Chinese musical instruments, travel, Mah-jong, and fixing things. The family extends its sincerest appreciation to the doctors and staff at the St. Boniface Hospital Palliative Care Unit. Their kindness will always be remembered. Flowers are welcome, as are donations to St. Boniface Hospital Foundation, Palliative Care Program at http://goo.gl/a1vl3c, in his name. Funeral service 11:00 a.m., Monday, July 20, 2015, at Bardal Funeral Home, 843 Sherbrook Street, with a reception following immediately. Interment, St. Vital Cemetery. Bardal Funeral Home and Crematorium 843 Sherbrook Street, 204-774-7474 Condolences: www.bardal.ca Parking behind funeral home
