MAUREEN GOERTZEN It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Maureen Goertzen of Lockport, MB on July 17, 2015, at the age of 54. Maureen passed peacefully on Friday evening in the way she spent most of her days, surrounded by her family. With a breathtaking sunset as a comforting farewell, she leaves behind her husband Derrell, daughters: Jessica and Sarah, twin sister Marianne Boyer (née Zarvie) and husband Gord, sister Debby Perrin (née Thorarinson), brother Dennis Zarvie, John and Cathy Fox, Terry Goertzen, Sharlene McKay (Tim and Bridgette), Sharri Zarvie, Kathryn Zarvie, Nicholas Fox, Meghan Perrin (Kaiden and Koltyn), Shandal Beaudry (Alex and Chayce), and Heather Stefaniuk. She joins in Heaven her sister Sharon Fox (née Zarvie), mother Eileen Zarvie (née Thorarinson), father Michael Zarvie, grandmother Anna Thorarinson, and niece Melissa Perrin. From her early years, growing up in Walkleyburg, Manitoba to her family home in Lockport - Maureen filled her life with family, friends, and plans. Matriarch and born leader, she was always the first one to arrive and the last one to leave - just to be sure that everything got cleaned up and put away. Maureen wove her way into everyone's lives - an important figure we could always depend on. She will be missed in a million ways. The family would like to thank the staff at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg for all of their help and kindness in these past few weeks. A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, July 23 at 2:00 p.m. at Sherwood Park Lutheran Church, 7 Tudor Cres., Winnipeg, MB. Funeral Arrangements in care of Cropo Funeral Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Maureen may be made to the CancerCare Manitoba Foundation. They who dwell in the ends of the earth stand in awe of Your signs; You make the dawn and the sunset shout for joy. Psalms 65:8 Rest easy Mama Bear, the world won't be the same without your love.

It is hard not to question why and to accept the calling. Just short days ago Maureen was a vibrant woman living her life to the fullest....being Maureen. Today Maureen is an angel protecting and comforting all those that she loved and cared for. It is hard to understand the why but know that she will be there for her loved ones in your times of need. You will feel her presence and will find comfort in her arms. Dear family know that you will meet each other again. She will be there waiting for you when your times come. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I too will miss Maureen. - Posted by: Kare Freund (Friend of family) on: Jul 22, 2015
