Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryALVINA HARTWIG Peacefully, in her sleep, Alvina passed away on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at River Park Gardens Personal Care Home at the age of 92 years. Born in Falkenburg, Germany March 19, 1923 she came to Canada at the age of three years and settled with her family in Morris, MB. She was predeceased by her husband Walter, parents; four brothers; and two sisters. She is survived by daughters, Beverley Podolsky (Rick) of Chilliwack, BC, Gloria Meier (Norm) of Winnipeg, MB and son Brian (Elaine) of Lockport, MB; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and numerous nephews and nieces. Alvina worked for 22 years at St. John's Ravenscourt School as supervisor of the cleaning staff and operating the canteen. She was active with Walter in the activities of the Fort Garry Legion as well as a member of the Hope Lutheran Church. She was a very likeable person known for her hard work, keen sense of humour and extraordinary wisdom. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who cherished family ties. All will miss her. The family wishes to thank all of the staff, nurses and doctor at River Park Gardens for the extraordinary care and concern they showed to Mom. A funeral service will be held at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St., Winnipeg on Thursday, July 23 at 1:00 p.m. followed by interment at Thomson "In The Park" Cemetery, 1291 McGillivray Blvd., Winnipeg. My thoughts and prayers are with you all in the passing of your Mom. I will always remember her laugh and how she would always call me 'peanut'. I have lots of fond memories of her when I was little.
