Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMILDRED VERA ZUBRACK (nee NYCHEK) December 12, 1919 - July 21, 2015 It is with love and fond memories that we announce the passing of Mildred Vera Zubrack on July 21, 2015 at Riverview Health Centre. Mom/Baba will be dearly missed by her sons, William (Cheryl), Michael (Kathy); grandchildren, Sandra Carroll (Anja), Susan Duncan (Hugh), Lorisa Carroll, Michelle Zubrack, Nicholas Zubrack, Jennifer Zubrack Oliver (Arthur), James Zubrack; great-grand children, Cameron Duncan, Kya Duncan, Augustin Sredl, Luna Carroll; many nieces, nephews and family friends. Mildred was predeceased by husband, Frank (1992); son, Myron (1981) and daughter, Patricia (2005); sisters Anne Antonation, Mary Matiation, Rose Malanchuk, Stephie Molitowsky, brother Peter Nychek and infant brother, John Nychek. Mildred was born to Stefan Nychek and Irene Derkach on December 12, 1919 in Oakburn, MB. She grew up on the farm with her four sisters and brother. In 1943 Mildred married Frank Zubrack. They took over the Zubrack family farm where they raised their four children. In 1968 the family moved to Winnipeg. Mildred worked at the University of Manitoba Food Services until retirement in 1985. Mildred and Frank enjoyed camping and fishing in the Whiteshell and looking after their grandchildren in their retirement years. Mom was practical and forthright, living true to her open-minded and progressive values in a simplistic and grounded way. Baba will be lovingly remembered for her incredible work ethic, love of family, and her perogies, holubsti, and chicken noodle soup. She was our pillar of strength, our rock, our inspiration. The family is grateful to the staff and residents at Metropolitan Kiwanis Courts for making her last few years truly enjoyable. Wednesday Bean Bag Toss was a favourite of Mildred's with three perfect scores to her credit! Sincere thanks to Dr. Heather Frame for her years of care and support. The family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the doctors, nurses and health care aides at Riverview Palliative Care Unit, 3 East for providing exceptional care for our Mom/Baba. At Mildred's request, a private family service will be held on Monday, July 27, 2015. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made in Mildred's memory to Riverview Health Centre, Palliative Care Unit, One Morley Ave., Winnipeg, MB. R3L 2P4.

I don't ever remember the Zubracks not being extended family, so much so, I can't bring myself to refer to her as anything but "Baba". I will fondly remember her welcoming smile, wonderful hospitality and generosity. She was a wise woman that was respected and loved by all that knew her. She was an inspiration and will be greatly missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family. Lynn & Jeff Gouthro - Posted by: Jeff & Lynn Gouthro (friends) on: Jul 26, 2015
