Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryWILFRED ERWIN FINGAS Unexpectedly, yet peacefully, on July 26, 2015, Wilf at the age of 82 years quietly passed away in his home. Remaining to cherish his memory are his wife Mildred, his children Randy and wife Glenda, Laurie Aberhardt and Ken Borthwick, his grandchildren Colin, Tara and Michaela, his brother Wilmer and wife Vicky, sister-in-law Martha Fingas, brothers-in-law Wilbert, Gordon and George Kotzer, sister-in-law Donna Kotzer, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Wilf was born to John and Amilda on January 16, 1933 with his twin brother Wilmer in Russell, Manitoba. After growing up on a farm near Inglis with his older brothers Ernie and Arnold, Wilf attended Concordia College in Edmonton. Upon completion, unlike his brothers, he decided quite quickly that farming was not going to be his career of choice so he moved to Winnipeg in 1954 where he was employed at Swift Canadian for 26 years. He reconnected and ultimately married Mildred Kotzer who he had met sometime earlier in Langenburg, Saskatchewan. He liked to think that she had followed him to Winnipeg. They were married in 1956 and together they raised two children beginning with Randy in 1958 and Laurie in 1960. While enjoying his 58 year marriage, Wilf's life was filled with extensive travel, with Mexico and Hawaii being his favourite destinations. Wilf was full of life, he was positive and caring, a loving husband, father and grandfather, with always something kind to say about everyone. He and Mildred enjoyed an active social life revolving around their many friends and family members, including their family at Faith Lutheran, the DeBourmont Gang, the 959ers, and now the Dawson Trailers. Wilf loved to play cribbage and bingo and is probably already involved in a game. He was deeply loved and he will be sadly missed. A funeral service will be held at Faith Lutheran Church, 1311 Dakota Street, Friday, July 31, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to a charity of your choice. Family and friends may sign a Book of Condolence at www.glenlawn.ca Glen Lawn Funeral Home 204-982-7550
