GIOSEPHINE ELSIA TOMASSETTI
Born: Sep 03, 1937
Date of Passing: Jul 27, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryGIOSEPHINE ELSIA TOMASSETTI It is with heavy hearts we mourn the passing of our mother Giosephine Elsia Tomassetti (nee LaRosa) wife of the late Bruno Tomassetti on July 27, 2015. She was 77 years old. After a long battle with several physical complications with her health she died peacefully and the pain has suddenly stopped. She is survived by her four children Luisa and Mario Cirici, Isabel and Diego Moncado and her two sons Raffaelle and Victor Tomassetti. Mom is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who loved her dearly. Daughter of the late Luigi and Pierina LaRosa she is also survived by her sisters, Connie and Mario Cianflone, Sonia and Savino Malizia. Her brother Carmine and Lina LaRosa along with many nieces and nephews. Our mother was born on September 3, 1937 in the small town of Gerace, in the province of Reggio Calabria, Italy. As a young lady she travelled to Winnipeg with her father Luigi in 1952, and later would meet and marry the love of her life Bruno. A simple woman who loved to cook and entertain friends and family. She taught us the world of music that brought her so much happiness. Singing old love songs that her parents taught her was a common thing in our home. She was a woman who loved her children unconditionally and taught us to do the same. A breast cancer survivor Mom would go on to battling other illnesses, kidney disease due to diabetes and also suffered a stroke. Even against all these odds her world was all about her children and how she needed to carry on for them. A warm loving smile when we visited her and never a complaint. We love you Mom and we can hear you answer with "I love you too until I die and after." A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 1, 2015 at Holy Rosary Church, 510 River Avenue, with a viewing at 10:00 a.m. We would like to thank the staff at Golden Links Personal Care Home for the outstanding care and compassion while Mom was in their care. If so desired, in lieu of flowers, we are a Memorial Contribution to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Canadian Diabetes Association. It is with great sadness that I write this. It has been a privilege to have had Comara Josie in my life. She was very dear to me and always treated me like a daughter. I will never forget her warm welcome each time I was over visiting. She was always happy, lively, loved to sing. She loved life her family her friends and life. Her positive attitude despite her failing health made every visit a pleasure. There was no one quite like her. My deepest, heartfelt condolences to Isabel, Victor, Luisa, Ralph, and the entire Tomassetti family. Sending healing prayers and comforting hugs that you’ll find comfort in your memories of her. ❤️❤️❤️ - Posted by: Sandra Tuzi Pashayan (Second mom) on: Jul 31, 2015

So saddened to hear that Giosephine passed away. My parents Lucie and Silvano were close friends with Giosephine and Bruno. During my childhood we would be together all the time doing what Italian's do best, eating and enjoying each other's company and listening to great music together. I remember Giosephine's cooking and laughter around the dinner table. She appreciated great music and I remember her singing on more than one occasion. She was such a kind and gentle woman and most of all strong. From all the Fracassi's, our deepest condolences. Remember she will always be close to your heart and she is watching over you all. - Posted by: Louis Fracassi and Family (Long time friends) on: Jul 30, 2015

MOTHER She traveled the journey before you She has known all the cost of the way; She paid out the price to its fullest, That motherhood only can pay. She loved when the world was against you She hoped-when your hope sank and died; She clung to your hand when the clinging Left scars in her heart, deep and wide She labored - and loved-and was happy, For deep in her kind heart she knew Your kindness and love would repay her For all that she did-just for you. This poem reminds me so much of what our mothers were to us!! She was a saint, and rest assured that you all took good care of her. She is singing with her loved ones just like old times up in heaven. AMEN - Posted by: Wendy Lagrou (family friend) on: Jul 29, 2015

So Sorry to have heard of the passing of your mother. As a little boy in Winnipeg , I remember spending so many nights with your mom and dad at our house on Warsaw. There was a lot of joy and celebration every time they got together. " She has gone before us to lay a stone in the pathway to heaven for our arrival " Once again , I am so sorry for the passing of your mom .
