Date of Passing: Jul 30, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryESTHER (ETTIE) ZABENSKIE It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Esther "Ettie" Zabenskie on July 30, 2015 at the age of 92. Esther was predeceased by her parents Jacob and Tuba Chochinov, her five brothers and one sister and her husband Ezekiel Zabenskie. She is survived by her brother Label; her children Earl, Reesa (Kevin), Harvey (Gwen); her grandchildren Debi (Tony), Michelle, Pamela (Andrew), Susan (Val), Shoshannah (Kyle) and Tovah (Domingo); her five great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Esther was born in Winnipeg and grew up on the family dairy farm in Garden City. In 1942 Esther married the love of her life and together they raised their three children. Esther was an avid gardener who also loved to go bowling, play mah-jong, cards, and spend time with her family and loved ones. Esther would go to the ends of the earth for her family and we all knew we could rely on her in times of need. We will all remember her perfectly manicured nails, weekly hair appointment, and her uncanny ability to tell it like it is. Special thanks to all the staff at the Simkin Centre for their loving care and unwavering support. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on July 31 at the Hebrew Sick Benefit Cemetery, 2605 McPhillips Street. Shiva will be held at 571 Templeton Avenue from 3:00 p.m. to sunset July 31 to August 6 excluding Saturday August 1. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the charity of your choice.
