ROY CHARLES (RALGRO ROY) PHILLIPS August 1, 1944 - July 29, 2015 Roy Phillips, beloved husband, father and grandfather, of Claresholm, AB, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 29, 2015 at the age of 70 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Jane (Baldwin), his children Angela Nagy (Ernie) and Clinton (Lynne), grandchildren, Taylor Phillips (Christine), Raena Phillips, Mason and Spencer Nagy. Roy was predeceased by his father George, brother Henry, and sister May. Roy was raised in Sundre, Alberta. He left home to work on the Pekse farm at the young age of 12, and later went on to complete his apprenticeship as a chef at NAIT. He met his future bride, Jane Baldwin, while he was working at the Palliser Hotel in Calgary. Roy and Jane married and moved to Manitoba where he farmed with his father-in-law, prior to becoming an elevator agent for seven years. He later went on to spend 29 years in the animal health industry. He finally put his cooking skills to good use when he started J&R BBQ Catering. This was a family affair that included Jane, Angela and Clinton, who had a great time catering all over western Canada, with the motto "Have buns, will travel". Roy was never one to settle in one place, as they lived in many places in Manitoba, Alberta, British Columbia, and Arizona. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the Southwood Care Centre Hospice, 211 Heritage Drive S.E., Calgary, AB T2H 1M9. We would like to express our gratitude for the kindness, care and compassion provided to Roy during the last two months from the doctors and staff of Unit 53 at the Peter Lougheed Hospital, as well as the Southwood Hospice. A loving husband, father and grandfather whom we will miss. We'll love you forever. A celebration of life for Roy will be held at a later date.
