ELSIE FRIEDA SCHAPPERT (nee SCHMIDT) Peacefully on July 22, 2015, at the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg, Elsie passed away at the age of 89 years. She will be dearly missed by her children, Barbara (Donald) Radley, Douglas (Ruth) Schappert, Karen (Darcy) Kada; grandchildren Jennifer (James), Michael, Brennen (Amanda), Amanda (Kyle), Anna, Lisa, Amy, Chris (Leah), and Tyler; great-grandchildren Lochlann, Rowan and Taylor; and sister-in-law Sina Schmidt. Elsie was predeceased by her husband William (Bill) Schappert, and her siblings Olga, Reinhold, Adolf, Daneda and Art. Elsie was born and raised in Yorkton, SK. She married Bill Schappert in 1957. They moved to Thompson, MB in 1964 where they lived, worked and raised their family. After retirement in 1980, Elsie and Bill returned to Yorkton, SK. In 2003 they moved to Winnipeg. Elsie was an active member of the Lutheran Church. She loved reading, baking and spending time with her family. A memorial will be held on August 15, 2015 in Yorkton, SK. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0B9.
