STANLEY (ZBIGNEW) WIDERSKI Peacefully on July 27, 2015 Stanley (Zbignew) Widerski passed away. Stan was born in Diepholz, Germany on February 13, 1946 and was predeceased by his birth mother Apolonia Chmielewski who died in Germany in 1950 after a lengthy illness. Stan was adopted by Jozef and Mary (Maria) Widerski in 1951, and they were able to immigrate to Canada in August of 1953 aboard the M.S. Fairsea. The family settled in Stonewall, Manitoba where Stan was quick to learn English and attended Edward E. Best school. Stan's adopted father Jozef Widerski passed away in 1955 in a work related accident. Mary re-married in 1957 to William Kaschyshyn who passed in 1995. Stan's adopted and beloved mother Mary passed in 2002. Stan is survived by two sons, Douglas and Steven, two grandchildren, Daniel and Carolyn, and also by his ex-wife and best friend Carol Widerski. Stan had a long career as a linesman with the Manitoba Telephone System and is remembered by many as a skilled mentor. He had a wonderful opportunity to travel to Saudi Arabia in 1979 to install phone systems and teach the locals how to make repairs. Shortly after his retirement from MTS in 1996 he was struck with epilepsy which he battled indomitably until the end. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the wonderful and compassionate staff at Concordia Hospital Oncology Ward for making Stan as comfortable as possible. A private service will be held in his honour handled by Wheeler Funeral Home.
