JOAN CAROL WIEBE
Born: Apr 17, 1943
Date of Passing: Aug 02, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryJOAN CAROL WIEBE (nee BAMBURAK) April 17, 1943 - August 2, 2015 In the early morning hours of August 2 Mom (Joan) passed away peacefully of cancer at the Victoria General Hospital. With her sister Shirley at her bedside, she went to join her Mom and Dad for eternity. Mom is survived by sons Randy and Darrin Wiebe (Karli, Tanner and Cody). She is also survived by her sister Shirley Parfeniuk (Trina and Collin Einarson) (Brady and Tessa), aunts Jean Sullivan and Margaret Dola and many family and friends in Manitoba, Alberta and British Columbia. Mom was an avid lover of all that her kids did. She was there for all that came their way in life, school and sports. She was active with numerous friends and family trying to get all together for laughter and happy times. Two great loves outside of her family were her times in Hawaii and at the trailer locations of Wendigo and Bird River. These were her salvation and peace. Mom, in her youth, was a Candy Striper at the old Grace Hospital on Arlington Street. This was something that she was passionate about and continued to volunteer at hospitals around Winnipeg up to a year ago. She was schooled in the North End, graduated from Sisler High School and moved into numerous accounting roles with car dealerships, hotel properties and, finally, at the Health Sciences Centre where she retired from two years ago. Mom was a very outgoing and social person and always took the time to get to know you and what you were about. She made many friends through all the places she visited ..... even the bellboys and chambermaids in her travels. She never missed an opportunity to know or get to know someone. Mom loved to travel and this was a big part of her comfort and peace. Her absolute sanctuary is and will always be Hawaii. Her trips with her Mom and her sister to the Ilikai in Waikiki were always top of the list. We would like to thank Mom's friend Kathy for all the support during the past few months and for being such a good friend to Mom. We would also like to thank the staff of the 4th Floor at the Victoria General Hospital for the kind and compassionate care Mom received the past five weeks. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Joan's name to the Winnipeg Humane Society or any animal shelter of your choice. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 7, 2015, at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Interment at a later date. Aloha Mom ... make sure to apply that sunscreen and order a rye and ginger for grandma as you pull up that chaise lounge on the beach next to her!

So sorry to hear about Joan. I met her while working at Pan Am Motors and we hit it off very well. She talked me into bowling with her - such good fun. She was such a good friend that one day she said I looked low on iron so had me over for supper for liver and onions. Joan also made sure our wedding night was special and surprised us with a night at a hotel. Ive never met a more caring or loving person. RIP Joan - we will see each other again. Sorry to comment at such a late time but its taken along time to realize that she isn't just a phone call away. - Posted by: Julie Ekosky (Friend ) on: Oct 15, 2015

My deepest condolences to Joan's family. I knew her from Sisler High School and over the years many of us ladies would get together for either lunches or dinners and still do. I hadn't seen her for years but at one get together, she was so friendly and always smiling and the past just came to life again as if high school was just a few short years back. That shows the power of friendships that still lingered over these many years. Rest in peace Joan and hi to Shirley as we sometimes rode the same bus to our jobs. - Posted by: Gerri (Yurchak) Page (Sisler High School friend) on: Aug 06, 2015

Darrin and Randy, I am so sorry to hear about your Mother's passing. I had not talked to her for several months but when we did chat we always had lots of laughs talking about the old times we had together. My thoughts are with you and your girls Darrin. They will miss Grandma as well. Take care. My condolences to Kenny and Shirley as well. We used to have great times together at Bird River year ago.
