Ken is survived by his children Patricia (Glenn), Michael (Mickie), Colin (Merelyn), Keith (Linda) and Michelle (Patrick); grandchildren Randy (Sandra), Rodger, Kenny (Arlene), Amber (Marshall), Devon (Roly), Aiden, Kevin (Meagan), Derek (Jessie), Sandra, Mark (Debbie), Jimmy and Melanie; as well as many great-grandchildren. He served in the British Forces during the Second World War. In 1956, he emigrated from England to Canada to work as a miner in the gold mines in the Red Lake, Ontario district. He was followed shortly by his wife and children. In the following years, Ken worked as a miner in many mines across Canada. In 1973, he married Dora and they shared 32 happy years in Red Lake, Ontario and Morris, Manitoba. Dora passed away in Morris in 2005. He will be missed by his friend, ElLayn RiDalen, as they shared many suppers together and faithfully followed the Canadian curling scene. One of Ken's greatest joys, throughout his 59 years in Canada, was a quiet day of fishing in Northwestern Ontario. Ken's ashes will be laid to rest beside his wife Dora at the Lowe Farm Cemetery. A Memorial Service will follow at the Morris Legion Hall at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12, 2015. Many thanks to the staff of the Portage and District General Hospital for their loving care during his time spent there. As expressions of sympathy, if friends so wish, donations may be made in Ken's memory to an MCC Store in your area. A tree will be planted in memory and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel. 204-857-4021 www.mckenziesportagefuneralchapel.com

I will always remember this gentle and loving man who married my favourite aunt and gave her a wonderful life. I'll also remember visiting and fishing in Red Lake, wonderful memories. Thinking of his family at this time, George and Val - Posted by: Valerie Kirton (Niece) on: Aug 08, 2015
