WENDY-LYNN LAZER (HOROSHOK) Wendy-Lynn Lazer passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on August 11, 2015 after courageously living with cancer for more than two years. She will be greatly missed by her family, daughter Jilda Lazer; son-in-law Cameron Quinn and grandchildren Noa and Eli; daughter Sara Lazer, son-in-law Christopher Maissan and grandchildren Elliot, Simone and Lila; and brother Glen Horoshok; sister-in-law Deb Horoshok and nephews and nieces Joshua, Paul, Timothy, Jana and Marla. In Winnipeg, on August 21, 1950, Wendy was born into the loving arms of her mother, Jilda Horoshok (Grossi). A Winnipegger her whole life, she loved the city's architecture and history and always had a story to share. Wendy achieved her BA and MBA from the University of Manitoba. This led to a challenging and exciting career in medical science and research, most recently at Cangene Corporation. Wendy found joy being with family and friends. She spent her time visiting her grandchildren in Toronto, as well as discussing life and literature with her book club of nearly three decades. She was also a great cinephile, always up for dinner and a movie with a friend. In honour of Wendy's generous spirit, the family asks donations be made to the Canadian Hospice Palliative Care Association or a charity of choice.

Condolences & Memories (6 entries)

  • My sincerest condolences. Wendy was an avid reader, shared many books and recommendations with me. Always loved talking about what she was reading and insights. - Posted by: David Kukelko (Colleague) on: Aug 26, 2015

  • Jilda and Sara, Amanda and I both send you our deepest sympathy for the loss of your Mom. Although I've lost touch over the last few years I remember my times with her very fondly. As single mothers together we shared the ups and downs with tears and laughter. She was so proud of you girls and such a wonderful role model for what a smart and hard working woman can achieve. May you find comfort in your memories of your dear Mother. Rest in peace, Wendy... - Posted by: Eileen Haines (Friend) on: Aug 21, 2015

  • I remember meeting your mom at our Kick It Up event and having the most lovely chat with her about her career, family and love of Winnipeg. So glad I met her. My heartfelt condolences. - Posted by: Jennifer Schipper (Friend) on: Aug 17, 2015

  • I worked with Wendy in the 1980's and then again in the 2000's. Wendy was always a very pleasant person, very smart, and very dedicated to her work. I was always impressed by her conversion to Judiasm, even after she divorced. What a strong will! I am sure she will be missed by her family and friends. I would like to send my condolences to her family. - Posted by: Joel Ivers (Business colleague) on: Aug 15, 2015
