CONSTANCE ELIZABETH MADISON (LAVERY) On August 13, 2015, Mom passed away comfortably at Golden Links Lodge. Connie was born March 26, 1923 in Winnipeg. She was the eldest child born to Victor and Louise Lavery. She was predeceased by sisters Lorraine and Vicky and brothers Ron and Harv and is survived by sister Audrey, brother Russ both in Winnipeg and sister-in-law Alice in Calgary. Mom lost her mother at an early age and was unexpectedly in a position of having to help raise her siblings. Mom never forgot the loss of her mother. Connie met Jack upon his return from service in the Second World War and they were married on April 14, 1945. Together they raised their family with Mom taking care of the household chores while Dad worked for the CNR. Mom took great pride in her children. Always making sure they were "spic and span" and neat in appearance, through many tough times, which were common to that generation. Secondly was the cleanliness of the house. She was tireless in this regard. As we grew older and were able to help; how many times did we fail inspection because we didn't get the corners of the windows cleaned to her stringent requirements. Mom was predeceased by Jack in 1997. Then in 2004 her eldest child, Linda, passed away after a lengthy illness. The loss affected Mom deeply. In addition to her sister and brother, Connie is survived by her sons Bruce (Elaine), John (Sandy), Ken and daughter Darlene (David) and eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews, who at one time Mom knew all of their birth dates by memory. In accordance with Mom's wishes, no service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice. Condolences & Memories (4 entries)

  • Your mother was very much an influence in my upbringing and defining my character as an adult. One could not ask for a more loving next door neighbour. I have over the years (about 65 or so of them) had nothing but the fondest memories of your mother. Yes she was always"lovingly" Mrs Madison to us. My brother Jack once asked her on one of the many over the fence conversations if it would ever be OK if we called her Connie. After all we were in our late 50's at the time. The answer was no. God we laughed. Still teaching us at our age about respect for our elders. What a sweet woman your mother was. That is just one small memory of countless for me. I am so sorry to hear of her passing. My heart breaks for all of you. Love Greg - Posted by: Gregf Powell (Next door neighbour) on: Sep 17, 2015

  • Dear Bruce, John, Ken and Darlene: We are deeply saddened by the passing of your Mom. Doris has been her neighbour for 65 years and now is the only one left from the original homes built on the street. We will miss seeing Connie merrily walking down to the store to get her bingo cards. Or talking over the fence threw the back yards. Another bright star up in the heavens has arrived. - Posted by: Doris, Linda, Dianne & Nancy (Neighbours) on: Aug 18, 2015

  • Our memories are the 'treasure trunks' in life. Time eases the hurt, but she will never be forgotten. Our thoughts and hearts are with you. Love to all. - Posted by: The Bastiaans Family (Sister-in-Law & family of Bruce) on: Aug 17, 2015

  • Our deepest sympathies to you and your family John. - Posted by: Ken and Charlene McCrea (Friend) on: Aug 15, 2015
