DONNA MARY ANNA BRISCO (nee MACLENNAN) Dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Donna Brisco, aged 83, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2015 at the Grace Hospital. She was a wonderful example of faith, hope and determination. Donna Mary Anna MacLennan was born August 2, 1931, in Eriksdale, Manitoba. She had three brothers, Stanley, Allen and Lloyd. She and her first husband, Hugh Carr, made their home and raised their three children in Atikokan, Ontario. Following the passing of Hugh in 1970, Donna was blessed to marry Jim Brisco in 1972, whom she loved and adored for 39 years. Donna and Jim spent many happy years in Atikokan while snow-birding in Harlingen, Texas for 13 blissful years. Due to Jim's obsession with golf, Donna also took up golfing and became very accomplished at the game, winning many awards and trophies. Donna always looked forward to visits from her children and grandchildren, often helping to make ice cream floats for them before bed. After retirement, Donna supported Jim with his baseball fandom and accompanied him on many family trips across North America. Donna and Jim made Winnipeg their home in 1994 and resided at Portsmouth Retirement Home since 2004. Jim passed away on June 1, 2011. Donna is survived by children Barbara Renna, Mary Lee McNairnay (John), Jim Jr. (Teresa Spencer) and Robin Brisco (Dave Heyser). She leaves grandchildren, Jody St. Pierre (Donna), Roxanne Nielsen (Karl), Duncan McNairnay, Emily Superkoski (Sean), Esther McNairnay (Murray Compayre), Alex Whale and five great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Lloyd MacLennan and Allen MacLennan. Donna was predeceased by her parents, Nanna and Donald MacLennan, her brother Stanley; her son Terry Carr; and daughter Janice (Carr) Roberts. In lieu of flowers, should anyone wish to remember Donna with a gift, a donation to a charity of your choice is appreciated. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Churchill Park United Church, 525 Beresford Avenue, Winnipeg, Manitoba.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • Donna and I were the older cousins. I got to meet her when she came to my tourist resort with Barbara and her dear mother my Aunt Nana one summer. We sang, we danced, we hiked and paddled the canoe, the kids played right along with us and we all had so much fun. Fishing, picking blueberries and making the pies and pancakes were all part of the fun. Donna was one of the Models at the Fashion Shows at Catherine Place where my Mom Olive and Aunt Edie and Aunt Freda joined in for fun afternoons. I recently visited Donna at the Portsmouth and although she has some health challenges she was as spirited as ever. She was a true Lundstrom. Faith, hope and determination say it all! - Posted by: Sonja Lundstrom (Daughter of Rickard and Olive Lundstrom) on: Aug 21, 2015
