Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryREGINALD WILLIAM VINING May 19, 1915 - August 14, 2015 After 100 years of a full and wonderful life, we are saddened to say good-bye to our dear dad and grandpa. Reg was born in Winnipeg and was raised in Rivers, Manitoba, a place he still called home. At the age of 23, he and his best friend Fred Bradt enlisted in the Army and went to war. Grandpa was a proud member of the 107 Battery 8th Field Regiment 5th Division SP. Upon his return, he married Verna and along with George, Fred and Edith, moved to Portage la Prairie to raise their family. With grandpa working at CNR, they moved to Winnipeg and finally settled in Transcona. He held many positions within CN but most enjoyed his time as a painter in the machine shop in Transcona. After 41 years of employment, he retired in 1980. Never idle, his hands and mind were always going. He was an avid reader, gardener, camper and cook. He even rode his bike around Transcona until he was 97 years old! Grandpa leaves to mourn his son George Gullen (Lonni) of Sault Ste. Marie, ON and their children Christine Gullen; Kathy's children Megan, Brianna, Nathan, Cheryl Hill (Phil children Steven, Michael), Ken Gullen (Paula children Alexander, Laiken); great-great-grandchildren Cole, Logan), daughter Edith Bonner children and grandpa's side kick Denise Stewart (Dave children Ryan, Evan, Bryden, Aislyne) Dave Armishaw (Melanie - children Nolan, Avery, Gillian) Rob Armishaw (Brenda children Ethan, Taryn, Kayleigh) daughter-in-law Lynda Gullen (Kim and son Zachary). Grandpa was predeceased by his loving wife Verna (nee Bradt) in 1987, son-in-law Bob Bonner in 1995, granddaughter Kathy Woods in 1999, Son Fred Gullen in 2001. Cremation has taken place and following Grandpa and Grandma's wishes, a private family internment will be held in Rivers at a later date. The family would like to thank all who cared for Grandpa over the years. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Cystic Fibrosis Canada. Sleep well sweet man, you deserve the rest.
