SIMONE MARIE HAWKINS (nee LADEROUTE) December 10, 1930 - August 15, 2015 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear Mom, Nana and GiGi. She has joined her husband and soul mate Lloyd, her sister Alice, brother Eugene, and so many other dear friends and family. Simone is survived by her loving sisters Laura and Denise and many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Mom will be deeply missed by her children Deborah (Terry), Gary, Randy (Kim), Karen (Gary), Michelle (Dave) and her beloved grandchildren Corray, Brendan, Chris, Shawn, Landon, Drew, Matt, Lauren, Taylor, Ty, Christian, Alex, Reece and great-grandchildren Kacy, Ethan, Josh and Grayson. Mom was born in Forget, Saskatchewan where she grew up on the family farm. They relocated to St. Rose Du Lac, Manitoba where she developed a love for sports and a competitive nature. She married Lloyd Hawkins in Winnipeg in 1952 and they began their life together. They settled in Charleswood and developed a strong foundation. Mom's world revolved around her family and friends; she always found time, food and drinks for everyone. Mom was an active member of Charleswood United Church and the community. She loved golfing, curling and the fun she had with her girlfriends in Charleswood and Falcon Lake. She loved sports, especially hockey; she was the biggest Jets fan, and unfortunately followed the Expos. Mom and Dad loved to travel; their stories of adventure around the world are endless. Mom's greatest passion was the cottage at Falcon Lake. She always had a full cabin and boasted that she still had room for more. She loved golfing and pontoon boating, happy hour deck parties, endless card games and hours of baking and cooking for her family and friends. Funeral service will be held at Charleswood United Church, 4820 Roblin Blvd. Friday, August 21, at 2:00 p.m. The family invites all to attend a celebration of Simone's life at a reception to follow in the Church Auditorium. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba. Mom - we will miss your unconditional love, your warm embrace and your endless support. Our promise to you is to "keep family first". We also know that you will make good on yours and you will be with us forever. Vous étes mon soleil, you are my sunshine.

  • My sincerest condolences to the entire Hawkins family. Simone was such an incredible lady it is hard to put into words how special she was to me and my family, welcoming each of my babies with a beautiful blanket and the treasured knit slippers as they got older. Always an open set of arms when you needed a hug and always there for making a great time even better. So gracious and thoughtful. She has left us with many great memories and will be truly missed. - Posted by: Nancy Neustaeter (Family Friend) on: Aug 21, 2015

  • Simone was such a great lady. I loved her spirit and her laughter. My family of five arrived at her cottage at Falcon Lake one day and as expected, we were welcomed with open arms, made to feel right at home and never once felt like we were a burden.
