HELEN (RAE) STANILOFF It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of Rae Staniloff on August 9, 2015 in her 90th year. She is survived by her children Leslee (Allan Abosh), Janet (Larry Hershfield) and Ian (Shawn Saifer), grandchildren Dory (David Gleason), Paul (Jessica White), Daniel, Evan and Sam, great-grandchildren Coleman, Dovid, Eden and Ryan, sister Helen Atnikov, and sister-in-law Pearl Lerner. She was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Coleman Staniloff. Rae was born in Morden, Manitoba to Dora and Leon Duboff. After Dora was widowed at a young age, however, she and Rae were welcomed into the Nathan Rothstein family in Winnipeg, where Rae would spend most of her life. Rae had a spirited, exuberant personality. Decades before it became fashionable, she decided she was going to "have it all." And to a great extent, she succeeded, building a life at home along with a life in the world, equally accomplished in the kitchen as she was in sales, office management, career counseling, and charity work. She was a tireless worker who accomplished a great deal over the course of her lifetime - everything from rising through the ranks of ORT, to selling shoes, to running the local office of the Liberal Party, to working directly under Maitland Steinkopf in Manitoba's Centennial Year, to running her own personnel agency. She continued to work well past her 80th birthday. Rae was the quintessential nurturer. She loved cooking, she loved company, and she loved entertaining. She was an expert bridge player, an avid reader and an enthusiastic sports fan - especially when it came to curling. When Rae's tremendous reserves of energy began to wane three and one half years ago, she moved into The Simkin Centre, where she was enjoyed by staff and residents alike. The family would like to thank the staff of Weinberg One for their kindness, help, support, and friendship during her time there. Rae will be missed by all of her extended family, as well as her many friends. Donations in Rae's memory may be made to CNIB or to the charity of your choice.
