YVONNE DENISE GLENN (nee KWIATKOWSKI) It is with deep sorrow and sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Yvonne Glenn, wife of Gerry, on August 12, 2015 at Shoal Lake Hospital. She was born on August 20, 1951 in Hamiota, raised and educated in Elphinstone and Strathclair. Yvonne was predeceased by her father Chester; mother Jean; brother Terry; grandparents and other extended family members. She is survived by husband Gerry; sisters Connie and Lesley; brother Chris; niece Tamara; many other nieces, nephews, in-laws and extended families. Yvonne and Gerry married August 14, 1971 and lived in Winnipeg, Rosser, Killarney, Arizona for several winters, and full circle back to Strathclair. She attended RRCC in Winnipeg and worked for over 35 years as an administrative assistant and in finance with the Provincial Government. (Department of Environment). She attended several churches over the years, borrowing from some to construct the basis of her own belief system and how she chose to live her life. She was honest, straight forward, stern and still caring, compassionate, considerate and brave, brave because she did so many things that were beyond her comfort level, and perhaps most of all generous. She realized early in life that material things were not most important to her. Her first thought was usually for another. She recognized her shortcomings and tried to be a better person. Yvonne was actually extremely shy by nature, had a smart mind, a retentive memory for things both read and heard, a quirky sense of humour and was passionate about many things, usually whatever captured her attention at the time, save her garden and flowers, but animals, most any animal, fury, feathered or otherwise. They didn't have to be cute or cuddly. She was fast and decisive in any emergency involving an animal and always in the middle of the fray if things went sideways. Bailey hardly knows what to do, she's sad and confused. Appreciation is extended to the many that have assisted and comforted her in many ways, Killarney doctors, nurses, lab and others and especially Brandon CancerCare, Dr. du Plooy and some very special nurses, your help made many difficult times more bearable, thank you all. Although we feel pain now, I can only be thankful that her long, quiet and determined struggle, accompanied by so much more pain than we will ever know, has ended. As was Yvonne's wish cremation has taken place. Yvonne, Gerry and Bailey recently moved back to Strathclair. A Service and Interment will take place at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at the Strathclair Cemetery followed by a reception in the Municipal Hall. In lieu of flowers, you could, if desired, assist at or donate to an animal care organization in your area. "You can no longer see me, but please know that I am there. I am the flowers in the garden and the wind that blows your hair."

  • Of thoughts are with you Gerry. Yvonne was a very special lady with a heart of gold. I think we had a special bond because of growing up in that area, born in the same hospital and I believe delivered by the same Doctor. Her generous ways will always be remembered. - Posted by: Marlene and Ron Breland (Friends) on: Aug 30, 2015

  • We are very sorry to hear of Yvonne's passing. With fondness I remember the many wonderful parties at your farm, the good food, good company and best of all Yvonne's (and yours) generosity. She was a wonderful host. The donkey from the donkey store, the potbellied pig, the cats, horses and dogs and all the others Yvonne took wonderful care of everything she had. She had a bountiful garden and you could just tell how much she enjoyed everything she did. So sad to hear that Bailey misses her so. You are all in our thoughts. - Posted by: Kent and Sandra Coleman (Friend) on: Aug 28, 2015

  • Yvonne greated me warmly when I joined the Department of Environment in 1992. Over the next several years, she quietly and very competently guided us through the financial management systems of government. Florence and I and our young son were once fortunate to be able to join many other families from the Department for an afternoon at Yvonne's farm. Yvonne took time with all the children answering their many questions about the animals (and some of our questions too!). Many of us were able to attend Yvonne's retirement and thank her for her conscientious and selfless approach to serving her province and its citizens. I would like to again recognize Yvonne's contributions and her friendship to so many if us. Gerry, our thoughts are with you. • To: Yvonne and Gerry and your respected families, Yvonne was a lovely, generous, considerate and kind lady. She always looked for ways to help (like an Angel), be it people she knew or otherwise. Her kind, generous heart always took over and she always accomplished whatever she set her heart to do. She had a special love in her heart for humanity, natures animals and environment. I knew her for a short 6 years, but she made a difference in my life. You will be missed very much, by all your friends, colleagues and family, whilst in your journey in life. My thoughts and prayers are with you. May her soul rest in peace. Take care! - Posted by: Manvinder Dhanjal (Friend) on: Aug 24, 2015

  • I'm so sad... Yvonne was a dear, much-loved friend who helped me through some very difficult times. For that I will forever be grateful to her. I loved her quirky sense of humor, her wonderful laugh and her kind soul. May your memories comfort you... Yvonne will never be more than a heartbeat away. My deepest sympathy to Gerry, your family and of course dear little Bailey. - Posted by: Marie Collins (Friend) on: Aug 22, 2015

  • To Gerry and Yvonne's family. So sorry to hear of Yvonne's passing. Many fond memories of sitting at our kitchen tables over coffee and discussing our pets and horses. Never knew which pet would come to visit with her but the kids loved to see them whether it was a hedgehog or dog. She always had time to chat and was a valued 4-H leader in our Grosse Isle Bits and Bridles 4-H club. Lost contact after your move to Killarney but you two were often in our thoughts and it always brought a smile thinking about how excited Yvonne was about living only a couple of blocks from the ice cream place there. Wishing you deepest sympathy at this time. Cheryle and Don, Cherianne, Ian and Erin - Posted by: Cheryle McClure (Friend from Rosser) on: Aug 22, 2015
