HELEN B. LOGAN (nee Kasperowska) Passed away on August 26, 2015 after a long battle with cancer, with her family at her bedside. Our beloved mother, grandmother and sister lived life to the fullest and on her own terms. Helen was born to Michael and Ewa Kasperowski on October 24, 1925 in Winnipeg. She lived most of her life in Winnipeg. She was married on August 4, 1952 to David H. Logan. After raising her family, she returned to school to obtain her B.Ed. from the University of Winnipeg in 1978, and BA in 1981. She taught school for 20 years and retired from teaching in 1990. She met Nick Gerbinski in 1978 and he introduced her to the art of collectibles. Helen enjoyed traveling, buying and selling collectibles, gardening and sewing. She dedicated herself to her family and spent a great deal of time with her children and grandchildren. Helen is survived by her children, Kathleen (Michael Wiesenberg), Patrick (Joanne Ford) and Michael Logan; brothers Stanley (Phyllis Gorun) Kasperski and Joseph (Patricia) Kasper; grandchildren, Paul, Matthew and Andrew Slobodian; Alexandra, Catherine and Elizabeth Logan. She is predeceased by her parents, husband David in 2005, partner Nick Gerbinski and sister-in-law Phyllis Gorun in 2010. As per Helen's request, cremation has taken place and there will be no service. A private celebration of her life will be held at a later date. The family would like to thank Dr. Lila Boroditsky of Pritchard Farm Health Centre and staff of Ward NI - S of Concordia Hospital for their support and kind care of our mother.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • We met Helen after moving into the same apartment block and it was always a pleasure to be able to have a kind word with Helen (your mother). She always had a nice complement for me and when she was unable to come to the door to talk, it made me sad that she was in so much pain. We were able to have some words with Michael and Patrick, now and again. Our sincere sympathies go out to the family. Sincerely, Lynn & Jim Osachuk - Posted by: Lynn & Jim Osachuk (Neighbor from Broadstreet Properties on Main Street) on: Sep 29, 2015
