HEINRICH (HENRY) WIENS July 8, 1922 - September 4, 2015 Heinrich Wiens of Winnipeg, MB passed away peacefully on September 4, 2015 at the age of 93. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Luise (Franz) and son Victor Wiens, both in 2005. Heinrich is survived by children: Ann Wiens of Winnipeg, MB, Henry (Barbara) of Calgary, AB, Luise (Gordon) Kroeker of Minot, ND, John (Dorothy) of Winnipeg, MB, Gerhard (Cindy) of Winnipeg, MB, Art (Lynda) of Winnipeg, MB; daughter-in-law Angie Wiens of Winnipeg, MB, 11 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Heinrich was born in the Ukraine on July 8, 1922 to Abraham and Susanna Wiens. He had many experiences that he could never forget as he served in the German Army in the Second World War. In 1947 he boarded the ship The Volendam headed for South America. On the ship he met Luise Franz. He settled in the Chaco, Paraguay where he was a farmer with cattle, peanuts and grain. Heinrich and Luise were married in 1948. In 1958 they immigrated to Canada with five small children. They settled in Winnipeg where Heinrich's brother Gerhard and family lived. Heinrich accepted Jesus as his Saviour and Lord at the age of 84 after the passing of his wife Luise and son Victor. He was baptized on the confession of his faith a short time later. His pride and joy was his garden in the summer. He often experimented with planting vegetables for the first time. He also loved playing Dominos and going out for breakfast with his buddies. The family wishes to thank the staff of 2N at Donwood Personal Care Home for their wonderful care provided. The celebration of life service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at the North Kildonan MB Church, 1315 Gateway Road, Winnipeg, MB with burial after the service at Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. after the service.
