ADAM ODDIE HARRAS
Born: Jul 08, 1930
Date of Passing: Aug 29, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryADAM (ODDIE) HARRAS July 8, 1930 - August 29, 2015 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of a beloved husband, father and granddad. His loving wife of 55 years, Corleen (Delaney), his children Michael (Barbara), Eve (Barry) and Patti, his grandchildren Justin, Ryan, Jeremy, Nathan, Noah, Shaelagh and Hannah will all miss him dearly. Oddie was born in Hamilton, Ontario to Mary Romberger and Michael Harras who emigrated from Austria in the 1920s. Oddie's love of sports was evident through his passion for golf, lacrosse and swimming. He played professional football for the Hamilton Tiger Cats in the 1950s. He met his dear wife, Corleen, in Gananoque, Ontario while playing badminton. At the age of 16, Oddie started out shunting trucks at Stelco Steel. Soon after, he moved into accounting and sales and went on to become the youngest manager in Western Canada. His work took them to Toronto, Oakville, Regina and eventually Winnipeg where they have lived for the past 46 years. When he was asked, once again, to move further West he chose to keep his growing family together and start his own company. Pioneer Fence was created by Oddie and his son Mike. This treasured family business has grown throughout the years with the hard work and dedication of Barb and the grandchildren. Upon his arrival in Winnipeg, his passion for golf led him straight to St. Charles Country Club where he had been an active member since 1969. When not playing golf in the summer, he spent many a hour playing billiards in the winter or heading down south with Corleen to soak up the sunshine and walk on the beach. He continued to golf four times a week with friends and family up until his passing. His light, his love and his laughter will be in our hearts forever. An intimate, family memorial tribute was held in his honour on September 4, 2015. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made to the charity of your choice.
