Born: Mar 18, 1921
Date of Passing: Aug 29, 2015
Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryMAJOR DONALD WILBUR March 18, 1921 - August 29, 2015 On Saturday, August 29, 2015 Donald Nathan Wilbur passed away at Betel Home in Gimli, Manitoba. Survived by his beloved wife of 69 years, Eileen Wilbur (Arnason), his three devoted daughters Bara-Dawn (Derald Lewis), Sherri (Dale Emerson), and Cathy (Ronald Campbell), as well as his eight loving grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Our dad proudly served his country as a member of the Canadian Armed Forces. Dad spent his retirement years travelling and surrounded by his family. A great many memories are cherished at "Afi's Cottage" in Loni Beach, Gimli, Manitoba. We would like to thank the staff at Betel Home for their exceptional care and kindness. Dad you will be missed for the unconditional love you had for us. When we count our blessings we count you twice. In compliance with Dad's wishes there is no formal funeral service. A private family interment and gathering will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to The Winnipeg Humane Society or a charity of your choice. To my family: I go from you gently for it is my time, to take the next step in this journey of mine. Don't grieve for me long I've not left you alone, for I will be with you in the love that we've known. That love is forever and someday when its time, you'll join me again on this journey of mine.

Don and Eileen were kind and raised three lovely daughters, one being Cathy who I had been fortunate to marry in 1976 for a short time. God bless you all. Danny Saltzman - Posted by: Danny saltzman (Friend) on: Jul 02, 2017

I am sorry to hear that Uncle Donald has passed away. My mother adored her brother and raised me with the belief that he was a great man. I remember as a child he would spend time with me, as his daughters were grown and had left home. I fondly recall building a bird house with him. He was very kind to me and someone I grew up wanted to emulate. Aunt Eileen, I wish you all the best and trust you are doing well. I will continue to pray for you and the girls in this time of separation. - Posted by: Dave Johnson (Nephew) on: Feb 17, 2017

It was only a few weeks ago that I got to have a conversation with Don as I rarely got to Gimli. Don was a very engaging person and we shared a few laughs about our past exploits about his power chair. My deepest sympathies for Eileen and the "girls" and their families at this time. - Posted by: Gordon Savage - HomEquip (Friend) on: Sep 08, 2015

Thinking of you Aunty Eileen - sad to read about one of my favourite people while growing up - my handsome Uncle Don. Such special memories. Barbara - Posted by: Barbara (niece) on: Sep 05, 2015
