BRADEN CONNOR PURCHASE Braden passed away while on his dream vacation in Vietnam when he was involved in a traffic accident. He is sadly missed and forever loved by his parents, George Purchase and Kathy Furkalo, brother Keith, grandparents Mary Purchase, Frank and Katherine Furkalo as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, close friends here and around the world, and his faithful dog, Sage. Braden at the age of 20 years had lived an eventful and vibrant life. He was an entrepreneur from an early age, starting with doing yard care for neighbours. He was gifted with electronics, doing computer assembly and repair, web site design and management. Braden was the electronic "go to" person for friends and family members. He continued to expand his skills and eventually got into filming and editing videos. Braden enjoyed new experiences and travel. He had worked one summer at Home Hardware in Lac du Bonnet, then worked one season as a snowboard instructor at Spring Hill. He worked at McNaught Cadillac during and after high school cultivating his love of cars and everything about cars. He graduated from Grade 12 at River East Collegiate in June 2013. Braden spent the last winter in Whistler, BC working at Quattro and The Keg. In June he returned home before beginning his next journey to Vietnam on July 17. Braden had a passion for life and enjoyed many different activities including snowboarding, surfing, cars, photography, video composition, skateboarding, biking, hiking, running, swimming, acting, drumming, DJ'ing, dirt biking, football, hockey, and volleyball. He enjoyed cruise nights in his beloved 1984 Mazda RX7. He became a folkie attending the last two Winnipeg Folk Festivals in full, even camping with friends. He thoroughly enjoyed weekends with friends at the cottage. Braden was a spiritual person and actively sought meaning for his life. He had a passion for people, and recognized the dignity and worth in others. He was responsive to needs in difficult times and provided support with confidence. Braden was spontaneous, witty, and compassionate. His happiness and enthusiasm were contagious and touched the hearts of many. His smile brightened the room. "The influence and impact you had on everyone who knew you will ripple through eternity and this world will never be the same without you." A celebration of Braden's life will take place 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 24 at Immanuel Pentecostal Church, 955 Wilkes Ave. Special thanks to Elena who was travelling with Braden at this difficult part of his journey and the Australian "boys" who watched over him at the accident scene. If you wish, donations in Braden's honour can be made in support of the Braden Purchase Memorial Award fund which is being established at River East Collegiate in Braden's name - cheques payable to RETSD, 589 Roch Street, Winnipeg, MB R2K 2P7. • Even though I do not know Braden, I read his obituary because of the names, George Purchase and Mary Purchase. If I am right, I taught George in grade one and remember Mary at the Shop Easy store in Transcona. George, respectful, quiet and bright 6 year old, and his mother, such a beautiful, lovely lady. After reading the online condolences and learning that George became a teacher, and a great teacher by the sounds of it, I feel so proud of you. I have a grandson that is the same age as Braden and cannot imagine your pain in losing him.So I extend to you warm hugs.
