RAYMOND LANDKAMER It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of Raymond William Landkamer at Seven Oaks General Hospital on Friday, September 4, 2015. Ray was born in Winnipeg on May 9, 1926 and resided in Winnipeg all his life. He worked for CPR as a machinist and foreman until his retirement. He was a loving and devoted husband to his dear wife Bette for 58 years. They shared many wonderful adventures abroad through their shared love of bowling, as well as their regular trips to Hawaii. Their greatest joy was spending time at their home at the cottage at Grand Marais with their many friends. Ray will be remembered by those who knew him best as a kind, generous and outgoing person. Above all else, Ray's common sense of decency towards other people will be greatly missed. Ray is predeceased by his father, Anton Landkamer, mother Rosie Akir, brother Reginald Landkamer, sister Adeline Rogalski and niece Rosemary Dryburgh. Left to cherish his memory is his beloved wife Bette Landkamer, nephew Ken Rogalski (Gloria), great-niece Shannon Rogalski and great-nephews, Matthew Dryburgh (Candice), Andrew Dryburgh and Darren Rogalski (Sonia). He also leaves behind many cousins and wonderful friends throughout Canada and the U.S. The family would like to thank the staff of River Ridge Retirement Residence and Seven Oaks General Hospital for their caring support. Special thanks are given to Ray's dear friends, Gerald and Betty for their generosity of time and assistance. A celebratory service will be held on Thursday, September 10, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home (4477 Main Street), followed by a light lunch. Grant him heavenly rest. We will love you and remember you always. Glen Eden Funeral Home and Cemetery 204-338-7111

  • I did have the privilege of meeting Ray at a number of bowling functions - in particular when National events were hosted in Winnipeg. Ray's contributions to 5 pin bowling and the Canadian 5 Pin Bowlers' Association are many. The game has lost a great ambassador and friend. - Posted by: Sheila Carr (Canadian 5 Pin Bowlers' Association) (Acquaintance - bowling) on: Sep 10, 2015

  • I never had the privilege of meeting Ray Landkamer as he was a very modest man and chose not to attend his 2011 induction into the MB Sports Hall of Fame as part of the 1967 Winnipeg Mixed 5 Pin Bowling team that captured a national championship. However his team mates spoke highly of him, both as an athlete and as a person and Dianna Woodward mentioned him specifically in her acceptance speech on behalf of the team that night. Our sympathies to the family and the bowling community on their loss. - Posted by: Rick Brownlee (MB Sports Hall of Fame) on: Sep 09, 2015
